without a commitment. Garnett and Dunn need to commit to fulfill my recruiting needs. I wouldn't mind Diggs, Darboh, and Wright either. Hint, hint...
November 29th, 2011 at 9:32 AM ^
Haven't seen that here....

American game.

Sorry to hassle everyone with this as I know it has probably been said before a lot, but it's hard to keep track of all of this but when do each of these guys plan on announcing?

Stanford
November 29th, 2011 at 9:21 AM ^
I hope he brings McNamara with him. Need MOAR Olinemen. Need MOAR Tight Ends.
November 29th, 2011 at 9:25 AM ^
So who's his second pick?
November 29th, 2011 at 9:29 AM ^
Stanford

this season was awesome in displaying the best of Michigan to a group of 18 year olds who knew first hand nothing but the Tressel domination and the Rodriguez fiasco. Mix in Hoke and Mattison's recruiting prowess with a 10-2 season and a virtual Michigan family love in, and you have the makings of a great recruiting class. It also doesn't hurt that Ohio has been shown to have a history of skirting the rules, Penn State harbored an apparent pedophile, and Brian Kelly turns purple screaming at his recruits when they screw something up (while Hoke tells his punter the law of averages means he'll drop a snap every 10,000 times, and don't worry he'll catch the next 9,999). Let a couple more 5 stars drop into our class, and we can start thinking about competing for a NC in 2013-2015.
November 29th, 2011 at 9:48 AM ^
I really liked that small sideline exchange that Hoke had with Hagerup as well, the short talk, the pat on the back. Then after the Defense forced them to try a field goal, the camera caught him doing a little fist pump for the fact he hadn't contributed to a touchdown. It was a cool moment in time, no over reaction by Hoke, team/player keeps a positive outlook.
November 29th, 2011 at 9:52 AM ^
I know Hoke would never do this, but I wish he would show recruits that sequence of events and compare it to how Brian Kelly reacts to things.
November 29th, 2011 at 11:13 AM ^
from some MGoBlogger who knows how to do such things.
November 29th, 2011 at 11:02 AM ^
Yes, that was totally awesome. Adversity often shows someone's real character, and Hoke's stands out compared to so many of his peers. You don't think Hagerup will give Hoke his all after that? I think he will.

Situations like that define coaches. I am so godamn proud to be a Michigan Alum when our head coach can use a moment like that to keep perspective and build his players up rather than turn beet-red and scream into his QB's face.... like a certain visor-wearing coach to the south-west of Ann Arbor.
I am a coach myself and I got really inspired by that series of events.

to irrelevance after this year. If distance is not a factor in his decision, I like our chances.
November 29th, 2011 at 9:39 AM ^
Distance was a factor earlier, not sure now. With that said I still love our chances.
November 29th, 2011 at 10:46 AM ^
Just curious. Seems like the NCAA's rule change could benefit us with these cross country recruits.
November 29th, 2011 at 11:23 AM ^
Isn't Palo Alto (SF Bay area) still pretty far from Seattle, as in several hundred miles away? If distance is a factor, he shouldn't go to either school.
(Note to Garnett: Ignore my last sentence...don't let distance be a factor, please.)
November 29th, 2011 at 11:27 AM ^
Seattle is about a 2.5 hour flight from the Bay Area. Not to mention that Stanford plays Washington every year. Seattle is also driving to distance to Pullman, Corvalis and Eugene so the family can see games in person without hopping on a plane.
November 29th, 2011 at 9:38 AM ^
Garnett, Dunn, Diggs, Darboh, and Wright...
These guys rounding out the 2012 class would have to give us the #1 class in the country.
November 29th, 2011 at 10:48 AM ^
I think Wright is a longshot per his HS coach not allowing him to visit on his bye week.
If Taylor McNamara takes a visit (we should know soon), you can replace him with Wright's name and you have the ideal / most likely scenario there.
Also, don't let my points here fool you - I am an avid fan who has a couple of subscriptions to other sites (Rivals, ESPN). I'd rank them in terms of liklihood of committing (1 best the most, 5 being the least) as:
1) Darboh
2) Dunn
3) Garnett
4) McNamara (he's ours if he visits and Garnett commits - otherwise, he will pass)
5) Diggs (about as high as you can put a guy with 8 teams left; regardless M will take 2 WRs)
November 29th, 2011 at 11:01 AM ^
not hearing much about him lately
November 29th, 2011 at 11:25 AM ^
Payton isn't coming to UM. The afterglow of his Under The Lights visit has faded and he will likely stay out on the West Coast.
November 29th, 2011 at 11:35 AM ^
Where have you heard this? I believe you are totally speculating.
I haven't heard TomVH say anything like that, and I know the Rivals' guys stance is "He's opened up his recruitment, which isn't good for us, but then again he didn't commit to ND yet either, so we still have a good shot".
Since I like to speculate (and make it known), I'd bet we get Darboh and then we wait on Diggs if the staff wants him. If not Diggs, then if Payton wants to commit, we take him - but I'd bet on a guy like Chesson actually.
November 29th, 2011 at 12:06 PM ^
He didn't commit here because while at ND got the info on their WR commit opening. May be rethinking after the Stanford domination.
I am still hoping for fallout leaving Noah Spence in our laps. (w/ Garnett, Dunn, Diggs, Darboh and/or Yright/Reeves/Brown)
November 29th, 2011 at 1:27 PM ^
You can stop hoping for Spence because there is no way that is happening.
November 29th, 2011 at 12:08 PM ^
That makes no sense.
If he was going to UM, I think he would've by now.
November 29th, 2011 at 12:04 PM ^
He's far from a longshot. That's his high school coach's rule, no visits during the season, and it goes for all his players - they have three top recruits on that team. Yuri Wright is still very high on Michigan, and I am sure he'll visit as soon as he can. I still like our chances with him.
November 29th, 2011 at 9:38 AM ^
Also, Michigan is now the #2 class in the nation to Rivals after Kalis got his 5th star. We were 3rd but we jumped Alabama. Should be a very interesting finish depending on who we end up with.

I think that this is the definition of an illegal post. I am an insider as well and this is totally pay walled. Its not like this was a teaser header on twitter. I am all for sharing info, but this is cheating our old friend TomVH.
November 29th, 2011 at 9:45 AM ^
Just curious, what is the difference between this and buying a newspaper, then telling everyone you know what was in it?
November 29th, 2011 at 9:54 AM ^
The difference is that the terms that you have to agree to when signing up say that you will not post any information that is paywalled on espn to another website.
November 29th, 2011 at 10:03 AM ^
Oh, you mean that stupid little document with the "I have read the terms and conditions" button at the bottom? Huh, you learn something new every day.
November 29th, 2011 at 10:31 AM ^
You see the South Park episode? You may be signing your life away
November 29th, 2011 at 10:29 AM ^
i bet you still pay for music don't you?
November 29th, 2011 at 9:53 AM ^
not information. Whether he should or shouldn't share is the real problem. This is more of a moral question than anything else, I think.
November 29th, 2011 at 9:54 AM ^
There is a reason why I provided a link and stated the information was from TomVH. If people are really interested in this type of information, they will click the link, pay to become an insider and everyone is happy. I could see your comment being appropriate, had I not stated my source and provided a link.
November 29th, 2011 at 10:08 AM ^
If you had mentioned that Tom is writing a blog post that is available on insider later then maybe i'd believe that you were advertising for them, but you gave ALL the information he gave in the forum post, so I think that you went too far with that.
Keep in mind i'm just some random person on the internet, and we are each entitled to our own opinion on this.
November 29th, 2011 at 10:00 AM ^
So if I have a scout or rivals account I could post every piece of info as long as I put up a link to the site? Honest question. It just seems wrong to me.
November 29th, 2011 at 10:07 AM ^
I don't think that is how it works. I just pointed out the main point of the article that will be posted later. If I took a 4 paragraph post from Tom and copied all of the content and placed it here, then I would be in violation. In the article Tom may provide Garnett's basis, visit dates, overall impressions, etc. All I am stating is we are in his top 2. If Mods deem this action as unfit, please delete.

People posting on the board for half a month should not be policing it. MGoBlog has better mods and a better user-moderated community than any other site I frequent. Leave it alone.
That is my policy.
November 29th, 2011 at 10:20 AM ^
Whats wrong with them stating that all pertinent info was stolen from Tom. No matter how long they have been on the site, that opinion is valid
The policy of putting a link down after you report all info is idiotic. Who is going to sign up for that info if people are taking it and putting all pertinent info on free forums almost immediately after Tom published it?
November 29th, 2011 at 10:23 AM ^
Well, it sounds like these pay sites should change their business plan if it's that much of a problem.
November 29th, 2011 at 10:25 AM ^
Maybe true, but for a member of more than a month, you sure don't seem to give a damn about Tom and his site. Lets just wait some before publishing their info
