From everything I've read, it really seems like it is us or Florida.  Florida fans are pretty sure they are getting him but we seem to be a wild card with the Countess connection.

These warm-weather recruits need to be exposed to a solid year in a Midwestern climate and understand how it actually makes life more interesting.

I can't imagine experiencing December without winter. That's like a person without a soul. I like playing with my dog in the snow, skating on outdoor ice rinks, and changing up my wardrobe to account for the cold.

Great point... I wonder if college coaches bring that up with recruits who want to stay south exactly for this reason. "Well, what happens if you get drafted by (insert northern NFL team here)? You are going to have to play in cold weather at some point regardless of where you end up in the pros. Unless you don't plan on making it to the NFL..."

I just moved to Pensacola Beach, FL.  I lived in CT, Michigan, and upstate NY.  I kind of get where these guys are coming from.  I was fishing up to my chest in water last weekend.  I have realized that being miserable for 5 months out of the year is over-rated.  Although I am moving back to CT next year.  Why do I punish myself?

never understood how cold weather really a part in recruiting. They are football players dreaming of going to the NFL. God forbid you get drafted by Denver , Green bay , Cleveland, Indianapolis, Chicago or any other team that plays in nearly arctic temps during the NFL season.

If you're making NFL money you don't have to live in those cities...

Many guys just rent home in their northern cities where there teams are, but they truly live elsewhere.

That's all sports.

Hell, I mean Doc Rivers, Boston's coach lives in Orlando, Florida.

Besides, you're on the road much of the year so how often are you REALLY in that city? Bad argument about the NFL teams.

Yeah, but living in cold weather versus playing in cold weather is different. If you're not used to playing in cold weather, it's an adjustment. I don't know how much of an adjustment, but some players can't take it.

I also don't think Doc Rivers is the best example for your argument. He coached in Orlando previous to coaching in Boston. He has three kids, who are in college now, so to uproot them and move did not make sense. As far as your point about players making offseason homes in the South, that is a very good point. I'm not sure that the players usually have ties to the South, but for various reasons, players tend to have residency down South.

Atlanta is a real hot-spot for athletes.  I have an uncle with a dry cleaner (cue korean dry cleaner stereotype.... now) in buckhead and he has several customers who are pro athletes for teams in other cities, including boston, cleveland, cincy, and indianapolis.  My other uncle has a cleaners on the south side near camp creek parkway (close to the airport) with several athlete customers.

If Auburn is not in serious contention, that's good news.

Maryland is probably looking down the precipice into the Eternal Tire Fire as a program anyway.

I still think we have a good shot. Come to the side of good, Stefon!

On CNNSI:

That's yet to be determined, though a top three finish isn't out of the question. Until then, monitor the recruiting battles for Stefon Diggs and Wes Brown. Diggs seems to be favoring Florida, Florida State and Virginia Tech, while Brown is considering Michigan, South Carolina and Colorado, among others.
Don't know how accurate that is.

The feeling in MD is he is a pretty heavy florida lean and has wanted to go south for college for a while but obviously he likes countess and florida struggling this year can't have hurt.
