Neither Martin, Molk or Kovacs got a nod.

Then again, it's BTN, and if they're picks for all conference honors are as accurate as their commentary is then we should have ~4 players on the first team.

It isn't that crazy considering the Big Ten is full of dominating defensive linemen. Worthy didn't make the list either and he is a pretty good DT. I think all those guys you mentioned will populate the Big Ten teams 1-3 somewhere, plus Denard maybe. Martin is beastly but had a slow start to the season statistically and many people judge these types of things based on that. Van Bergen was great and will get a nod, but probably is not as well of thought of as some of the other guys in the Big Ten by the announcers. Molk is the only one I think we have a legitimate gripe about. Really the guy from Nebraska? Also, not to rag on MSU, but I think Foreman might be a bit overrated. Watched a few games earlier in the year and he didn't play particularly great. Maybe he came on more as the season went on (kind of like Martin) and I just didn't watch the games.

I take issue with not seeing Molk or Lewan in there. But the QB, RB, and WR postions look fine.

On defense, Still, Mercilus, and Simon have to be in there. That leaves one spot which I want to see go to Martin but he didn't really start dominating until midway through the season.  The rest look fine.

Also I wish Countess had been mentioned for Freshman of the Year. I don't think Miller has been consistent enough for Freshman of the Year.

Yeah, he had a pretty darned good game against us. The guy accounted for almost as many yards as Denard did. And given our defense this year, that actually means something.

I hope Mattison finds a way to go all Florida-2006-Troy-Smith-You-Shall-Not-Pass on him next year, but he had some pretty good moments this year.

Question: did Ohio run any QB Draw Oh Noes plays on us?

Jake Ryan has been good but probably not better than Miller and some others. Lewan has been good, but he had a few tough games and it always seems people tend to pick favorites with Olinemen (usually upperclassmen) and just stick with them, since no one pays attention to Oline all the time and most people lack the ability to effectively evaluate Oline play. Lewan will probably get a 2nd or 3rd team nomination.

Ya, it looked like Hemingway broke off his route to come over and swoop up the ball. Koger might have been able to get it if the LB wasn't holding him for 5-10 yards slowing his route down. Also, maybe Denard was waiting for Koger and saw Hemingway in the endzone and figured to throw it away from the defender and let Hemingway go get it. We shall never fully know.

Molk and Kovacs should be first team, Martin has a case but is probably second team.  Dr. Saturday had an All-America team he was throwing around a couple days ago and he took five DTs, I think four of them were Big Ten players (Still, Worthy, Martin, Short along with Melvin Ingram of South Carolina).  League is loaded there.  All three of his centers came from the Big Ten too: Konz (Wisky), Brewster (Ohio), Molk.

Personally, I think it is impressive that UM could post a 10 win season without having a single player on the first team all B1G list. A team without "stars" doesn't have to worry about what happens when those stars graduate. Imagine what Nebraska's defense, which was merely average, is going to be like without David and Dennard.

Oh, and something about "The team, the team, the team."

Molk & Lewan are first team offense players...

Martin is a first team DLine (it doesn't have to be 2 DT and 2 DE...it's just 4 DL)

Kovacs should also be first team...

I don't know the numbers but Fitz, Denard, RVB, and Demens are all 2nd team worthy...

It still bothers me that all of these awards are based solely on statistics.  RVB and Martin may not have overwhelming stats in terms of TFL or Sacks, but you can't tell me that they haven't had bigger impacts on their teams overall success then the other guys on that list.  Also, its a crying shame that Molk was left off.  Absolute slap in the face.  At least they have Hoke as B1G Coach of the Year.  Had they put Dantonio there, I would have cancelled BTN from my cable subscription
