going to get worse for PSU. God bless the victims.

I feel that image was wasted on this topic.

This story would be awesome if it was about Rita Rod getting kicked off campus for trying to make her famous nachos in the West Quad cafeteria.

Wait.. there are no nachos? Well...

after all she has done, not her husband but her for the city, school. She has donated money and done so many fundraisers for the school and needy that we could not even count. I am kinda pissed that they would treat an older woman who is a saint almost like that. Guess the millions and millions of donated money the family had given doesnt get you a pool pass.
November 25th, 2011 at 8:44 PM ^
yea she should get a refund on her donation..

JoePa and Sandusky should give back their salaries? Cut me a break. Go pay for a gym membership. From Sandusky strolling around town in a PSU tracksuit to this crap, these people just don't seem to get 'it'.

Still, did she have a pass on her own? If hers was tied to her husbands employment status, then good for PSU.
I'm sure RR's and Tressel's wives did a lot for M and OSU, but it's not like they would be allowed in school facilities now, what makes Sue Paterno so special?
November 25th, 2011 at 9:41 PM ^
Does her access to the athletic facilities end after Joe was terminated, absolutely. However, I still believe he holds tenure at Penn State ... that might be separate from his coaching responsibilities. So she might have thought she had access.
It's also possible that she's an older lady who is used to a routine, and in a tough situation in which she probably had little to no knowledge of, she went and did what she always did.
While Penn State has the right to revoke her privileges, I think the appropriate action might have been, Ms. paterno, since your husband is no longer an employee you don't have access to these facilities. We'll let you here today, but in the future, you will not have access.
I think we forget that family members involved in this probably knew little to anything about what was going on and it's hard to understand the consequences. So lighten up a little.

I'm not taking this too seriously, and maybe your solution would have been better (I happen to agree).
OTOH you can't really fault PSU for trying to distance themselves from the Paterno's, which is more what I was seeing in this case.

I don't see the big deal with letting her use the pool. Seriously, wtf?
They have a lot of community activities out there and as far as I know, she's only guilty of being married to a guy who may or may not have known kids were being molested, but he allowed it to go on so that he could be in the record book. (I think he knew)
I met Mrs Paterno a few times. She's a very oldschool lady, but nice.

I like that. dc;bo. We should replace "OT" with that around here.
November 25th, 2011 at 8:10 PM ^
Yes this is not good. it's going to get a lot worse before it gets better. Hopefully the victims have strong support from their families and their communities.

How would you like to be the guy who carried out that order? I'm doing the Letterman awkward collar tug just thinking about it. Yeee. Ugggghhh. Eeeesh.

Michigan is my Stone Cold Lock of the Century. Of the Week.

Didn't something close to this happen at Augusta National Golf? Mamie Eisennower would play on the course every now and then when Ike was president. Later after he died no one had the nerve to tell her, that women independently couldn't be members.
November 25th, 2011 at 8:22 PM ^
Is she too strapped to pony up for a gym membership?
November 25th, 2011 at 9:09 PM ^
It was for public safety. Nobody wants to see Sue Paterno in a bathing suit.. GROSS
November 25th, 2011 at 9:27 PM ^
what does this have to do with ohio

Great response. You added a lot to the discussion. Way to represent your alma mater.
November 25th, 2011 at 9:53 PM ^
So let's once again accept half truths without looking for facts. She was asked to leave along with everyone else because the pool was closed. But lets not let the truth stand in the way of damning the Paternos to hell.
November 26th, 2011 at 12:03 AM ^
They had to close the whole pool to come up with a way to toss her out? What a bunch of wimps - just tell her to go.

Very misleading, pool was closed for thanksgiving break, don't read into this one
November 25th, 2011 at 11:35 PM ^
...pool, apparenlty. Per SI, the pool she attempted to use was part of the athletic complex (which was open), and not the one at the student fitness center which was closed for the holiday.
