MGoPodcast 3.11: Better Dead Than Red

This one comes in at about 1:25--big week, big podcast, Big Ten.

Topics!

FUN. I say "fun" a lot.

DEFENSE. Defense so hard.

NEBRASKA'S COOL OPTION PLAY. Thanks for running it on the three.

FITZKREIG. Mike Hart except fast, Chris Perry except fast, or Tim Biakabutuka except short?

BORGES. Still Gorgeous this week.

ACE'S HARROWING TALE OF SURVIVAL IN A PRESS BOX WITHOUT POWER. They had cake, I guess.

SPECIAL TEAMS. Congrats, Terrence Robinson and your extra year of training table.

GAME THEORY. Hoke uber alles.

PENN-STATE WISCONSIN. Weekly Jamie conversation ditches the rest of the Big Ten schedule to focus on the East Division championship game and...

THE GAME. We hate how optimistic we are about it, but we are.

Songs this week are "Folsom Prison Blues" by Johnny Cash, "Poets" by The Tragically Hip--our Tressel tribute--and "Everybody Chooses Sides" by The Wrens.

I think it's telling that Brian and Ace can laugh off stuff like the Odoms fumbles at Northwestern. Michigan has come a long way, they have a chance to hit all the goals we could hope for (besides beating Sparty) this weekend.

But I don't like the "Thank-you Pryor" chant idea at all. If anything, we should be cheering every single player that has endured any of the BS from the last 4 years of Michigan football (especially Koger, RVB, Martin, and Molk). Besides, with this defense I still think we have a damn good shot of beating OSU with Pryor under center.

I can't believe it but I actually know 2 of the 3 songs on this podcast!!! OK, I can't say I'm familiar with "Poets" by The Tragically Hip but I know the band and actually saw them in concert recently. Never heard of The Wrens though, so clearly I still suck. Oh well.

Sorry to be that guy, but I keep seeing Brian type it "fitzkreig" and the German teacher in the back of my brain won't let it go. It should be "Fitzkrieg"

In German, when there are two vowels together, the second is pronounced, not the first:

"ie" - pronounced Kreeg

"ei" - would be pronounced Kryg (like cry with a g at the end)

Thank you, that is all. Resume awesomeness.

Yeah, so I actually agree with Ace's prediction the most.  The only thing about this game taht doesn't point to comfortable Michigan win is that this is ohio, and everything that could possibly go wrong against them has in the past 10 years it seems.  On paper this game isn't close

Guy has great speed and he flies around the field like a loose missle. You could compare him to freshman year Te'o, but he doesn't have Te'o's football instincts or body size.  He's built more like a natural OLB.  He's gonna be good in another year or so, but not making a huge impact right now.  I think Sweat was a MLB, so they've had to shuffle people around after he went down, it's impacting a couple of positions instead of just a switch out.  Also, that MLB is responsible for a lot of defensive adjustments, having inexperience there is a big problem.

Brian deserves a shout out for the "Poets" by Tragically Hip. I love the lyrics and remember watching them on Canada's Much back in it's heyday of the late 90's.
