Pioneer @ Detroit CC Coverage
I'm at the game with MGoGarbs, keeping track of the game for you. We'll be keeping track of stats for Wyatt Shallman, Matt Godin, and Drake Johnson. Most of those stats should come when Pioneer has the ball. Let me know if you have any questions or requests for information.
November 12th, 2011 at 1:12 PM ^
ask them to not kill drake johnson thanks... the dude seriously carries the rock a ton...
November 12th, 2011 at 1:13 PM ^
CC moves down the field, mostly pounding the ball. 7-0 4:46 left in the 1st. Godin has little form as OT and is still pushing people around. He had a nice seal on an end around that got blown up in the back field anyway.
November 12th, 2011 at 2:30 PM ^
Sad panda
November 12th, 2011 at 1:14 PM ^
Pioneer returns the ball to the 30. Drake Johnson carries the ball for 6 weaving through tackles. Next play goes to someone else and gets stuffed.
November 12th, 2011 at 1:14 PM ^
Cool. Thanks for doing that.
Since you're taking requests, I'd love to know the positions from which those guys get snaps (other than their primary positions). For example, is Johnson returning kicks or punts? Does Godin slide around the D-line? Shallman seems like he could play everything - does CC move him around a lot?
November 12th, 2011 at 1:15 PM ^
Drake Johnson 5 yard rush out of Weak I for the first.
November 12th, 2011 at 1:17 PM ^
Johnson is the primary returner but they kicked to someone else. Johnson gets stuffed. Then a sack and forced fumble, but recovered by Pioneer. Toss to Johnson on 3rd and 17 for 2 yards.
November 12th, 2011 at 1:19 PM ^
Uh...Johnson is the punter. He got a good bounce for a 57 yard punt to put CC at their own 7 yard line. I guess we are recruiting him as a punter.
November 12th, 2011 at 1:23 PM ^
Hmm. Coaching staff must not have faith that Hagerup can stay out of trouble
November 12th, 2011 at 2:01 PM ^
Do you think they have no faith in other position players staying out of trouble too? I mean, we have 24 kids coming in. Or, do you think maybe they eventually want a non-freshman punter to replace our current kickers.
November 12th, 2011 at 2:21 PM ^
I was being sarcastic. As we are obviously not recruiting him as a punter.
November 12th, 2011 at 2:21 PM ^
I was kidding about the punter stuff. No need to argue.
November 12th, 2011 at 1:29 PM ^
November 12th, 2011 at 1:24 PM ^
End of 1st. 7-0 CC. Johnson 5 carries for 13 yards, 57 yard punt. Godin 2 Tackles, one of the stuffs, and on the 2 yard pitch. No sign of Shallman. Does anyone know if he is injured or something?
November 12th, 2011 at 1:29 PM ^
MGoGarbs is doing a more detailed breakdown and will be posting it later. He already has like 4 paragraphs. He has been watching Godin, while I've been watching Drake because it's easier to get quicker messages out then. He says that Godin takes plays off. Basically, if the ball goes the other way, he jogs down the field. Pioneer stops them. CC punts down to the 6 yard line.
November 12th, 2011 at 1:31 PM ^
Drake Johnson, off tackle run for 1 yard. Godin is not on the line. Counter for a loss of 2. Pooch punt on 3rd and 11? Ok.
November 12th, 2011 at 1:34 PM ^
CC gets the ball on the 37 after a Pioneer injury.
November 12th, 2011 at 1:38 PM ^
Zach Bock is a Sophomore for CC and he looks pretty good so far. All of CC's RBs look good, but he is being used in a bunch of ways. He's listed as a RB/QB/DB, I could see him being a RB at a D-I school. CC has been coming out in a 3-back formation, that I'm calling a T-bone. Basically, all 3 backs line up about 5 yards deep, one directly behind the QB, and the other two on either side of him.
November 12th, 2011 at 3:09 PM ^
Zach Bock is in a ton of my classes at CC. He is going to be a D-1 recruit
November 12th, 2011 at 4:16 PM ^
How many classes do they make you take at CC? I thought you only took like 6 classes in high school. 2,000 classes ... that's a shitload of classes.
November 12th, 2011 at 5:15 PM ^
Well, each class ways a little more than 333 lbs.
November 12th, 2011 at 6:00 PM ^
Your hilarious. We take 7 classes smartass
November 12th, 2011 at 6:05 PM ^
You should probably do your English homework.
November 12th, 2011 at 1:39 PM ^
Does Sam Webb's kid get any PT for Pioneer?
November 12th, 2011 at 1:40 PM ^
3:06 left in the half and CC has done a good job keeping Pioneer of the field. off of a TO, CC goes for 4th and 2 out of the T-bone and gets about 4 yards. 12 yards to go.
November 12th, 2011 at 1:43 PM ^
CC TD with 1:16 left in the half. 14-0 Shamrocks.
November 12th, 2011 at 1:48 PM ^
Drake Johnson 39 yard return to the 41 yard line. "Damn, he's fast."
Johnson takes the snap and hands off for a 2 yard loss. Drake Johnson 4 yard run to end the half. Wait, no, TO with .8s left. Interception. Half.
Drake Johnson 8 carries for 16 yards, a punt, a 39 yard return.
Godin 2 Tackles. We did miss the tackler on the 2 yard TFL when DJ handed off, so he might have a TFL as well.
November 12th, 2011 at 1:51 PM ^
Neither of us knew that Sam Webb had a son that played for Pioneer. I'm looking for his number right now so that I can watch for him in the second half. If I had heard Webb, I would have made the connection, so I don't know if he has accumulated any stats.
November 12th, 2011 at 1:52 PM ^
I can't find his name on the roster. If you can get me his number and position, I'll look for him, otherwise I'll just listen for his name.
November 12th, 2011 at 2:54 PM ^
He's a junior...I was just curious as I found out recently myself.
November 12th, 2011 at 5:12 PM ^
I don't think that Pioneer ever completed a pass.
November 12th, 2011 at 2:56 PM ^
Interesting. Who would have thunk it?
November 12th, 2011 at 2:04 PM ^
Here is the formation that CC was running out of.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T_formation
It's called the T formation, but I like T-bone better.
November 12th, 2011 at 2:06 PM ^
Start of the 3rd. Pioneer to receiver. Drake Johnson back to receive the kick. 18 yard return to the 20.
November 12th, 2011 at 2:07 PM ^
Make that a 19 yard return.
Johnson takes the snap and hands off on a Jet Sweep for a loss of 3.
November 12th, 2011 at 2:13 PM ^
Same thing, except sweep to the otherside and Johnson pulls the ball, bombs it into double coverage, almost getting it picked.
3rd down, same thing, Johnson rolls out to pass and throws it away.
3 and out. Johnson to punt from the 18. Caught at the 46 by Bock, breaks a tackle, makes another miss, returns it down the sideline to the 30. The breeze is picking up.
Godin, obviously, isn't taking his OT duties as seriously. He'll push people around at the line, but if he goes into the second level, he's jogging and not picking up blocks that could spring the RB for a TD.
November 12th, 2011 at 2:19 PM ^
Darkangelo is the other RB that gets a lot of carries for CC. They like 2 RB, 1 FB formations. He got most of the carries on that drive. He just had a stretch play out of Strong I for a TD. 21-0 CC 8:22 left in the 3rd.
Drake Johnson returns the KO from the goalline to the 24. He takes the snap and runs for 12 yards. Hands the ball off on the Jet Sweep for 2 yards. Godin is out this drive again. 2nd and 13 after a false start. He runs the ball, fumbles it, and recovers it for no gain.
November 12th, 2011 at 2:19 PM ^
The normal QB escapes some tackles, but eventually gets sacked.
November 12th, 2011 at 2:20 PM ^
Punt from the 32 to the 36. Zach Bock takes it to the 40.
November 12th, 2011 at 2:24 PM ^
CC now coming out in the flex bone. I love their offense, well in theory anyway. They aren't actually running an option, just using it to give new looks to the defense and power run game.
November 12th, 2011 at 2:29 PM ^
Now they come out in Wing T. Slow methodical drive down the field that is going to ensure that we get to watch the kickoff of the Michigan game. CC is now starting to pick up some steam. Their last 2 runs have gone for 8-12 yards. Of course, as I say that, Darkangelo gets tackled in the backfield.
End of 4th. 21-0 CC. CC has the ball at the 30 with 2nd and 10. MGoGarbs just told me that Godin had 4 plays in a row that he did well, that last play with the TFL is one that he took off. If he has a lineman or LB over him, he takes them out, but otherwise he jogs.
November 12th, 2011 at 2:31 PM ^
Drake Johnson 10 carries for 28 yards through 3 quarters. Godin had no stats in the 3rd.
November 12th, 2011 at 2:37 PM ^
CC is going for it on 4th and 9 from the 23. Pioneer intercepts it off of a tipped pass at the chains. I don't know why he didn't drop it.
Pioneer gets it at the 14. Drake Johnson run for 6 yards. Godin stuffs Johnson at the line. Oh, the sound of pads smacking. :)
Drake Johnson stuffed again by someone else. 4th and 4 on their own 20. Johnson is back to punt. Johnson punts, caught at 48, returned down the sideline back to the 20. 7:55 left in the game.
November 12th, 2011 at 2:38 PM ^
By the way, every KO return, Drake Johnson catches the ball over his head like it's a jump ball. He might have a move to WR in his future.
November 12th, 2011 at 2:45 PM ^
That's what I've been thinking. I have him slotted to be used like Breaston.
November 12th, 2011 at 2:46 PM ^
There was an unsportsmanlike conduct for someone hitting a player in the head. It should have been an automatic first down, but they left it at 4th at 3. CC turned it over on downs on what should have been a first down.
Drake Johnson 9 yard carry. 2 yard carry. Godin stands up right away out of his stance. Drake Johnson direct snap, run for half a yard if that. Godin with half the tackle. Now, he's on the sideline. Drake Johnson pass to Tacopants. Rollout throw to Tacopants again. Pioneer punting on 4th and 10. Punt from the 26 to the 35.
November 12th, 2011 at 2:49 PM ^
3 minutes left. CC has the ball. We are leaving now to beat traffic because Godin is on the sideline. MGoGarbs will post his disertation when we get back.
November 12th, 2011 at 3:00 PM ^
can someone tell me what Tacopants means?
November 12th, 2011 at 3:09 PM ^
thanks yo
