Although it would have been nice to show him what the Big House is like on gameday, the most important part of recruiting visits is meeting the coaches and seeing the facilities.  An extra perk is that because this is not on a gameday the coaches can spend more time with him, which would help our chances with him.

This is actually great news. From good old Tom : the coaches want to see how interested he really is by having him come on a non gameday. If he really comes then I'm going to get excited.

Sounds like we are slow playing him to find out what happens with Yuri Wright and other guys. If we still have a spot left in December and he still wants to visit hopefully things still have a chance of working out.

Coaches didn't want Shaq to come in for such a busy weekend. They haven't had the chance to really get to know him so they told him, if he was seriously interested, he would visit another week. So this is actually great news...

EDIT: A few posters above already covered this. Oops.

I think part of it was not only that the coaches wanted to spend time with him, but that they wanted to see that the interest was truly there; not merely going around seeing the best free football games around.

that's a bummer.  Maybe there's a good hoops game to take him to in December.  Would've been much better to get him in the Big House during a game though.
