I don't think the delay of game was intentional. A 47 yard attempt is completely feasible. What he should have done on 3rd down is run to the center of the field and maybe gain a few yards. If you get the first, even better. That would have forced Baltimore to burn their last timeout (not that it mattered) and they could have been up by 7, meaning they are in overtime right now instead of sitting in their locker room with a loss.

Was dicey at best with a bum kicker at Heinz Field into the open end of the stadium.
The ending to that game disgusted me. I almost hate Baltimore as much as Ohio State.

Agree but I hate steelers more than the ravens. It was a 'who do I hate less' game.

The delay of game was unintentional. He looked pretty upset on the sideline. The announcers mentioned that the clock might be malfunctioning.

I had a rational on topic post sandwiched between being excited about the fact that my team just beat its biggest rival and put itself in great position to get a home playoff game for the first time in something like 6 years.

LOL at William Gay. He is the worst starting corner in the NFL, and probably shouldn't even be in the NFL in the first place. He single handily lost the Super Bowl against the Packers, and now he just lost this game for the Steelers. Nice job Gay. You have a very fitting last name.
I said before the season started that if the Steelers ignore the glaring need at the corner position they will be lucky to make the playoffs. Well, this is the second game lost against the Ravens. Nice work Gay. Nice work.

Rashard Mendenhall had a bit to do with the Super Bowl loss, as did Aaron Rodgers going into unicorn mode for a while. Not to mention the pressure that forced Collins' pick six. Gay wasn't the goat in that one, the Packers were just better

If you read much of what is posted here, you may eventually notice that one of the things that makes mgoblog superior to communities like RCMB is the tacit agreement to have enough class to not use homophobic slurs.
I'm not speaking for anyone but myself; I'm just someone who posts here on a regular basis. But you might want to get the "lay of the land" before posting offensive "jokes." One basic rule of thumb is that you should probably keep homophobia on your side of the information stream, just as you would racism. Another is that if a third-grader could "create" the same joke, it probably isn't very funny.

Well, a FG would not give them any advantage of winning the game also they;re facing a Kick off return which can turn to a TD. So from a field of advantage point they should've punted, nothing the coach did wrong there.

What about the Ravens decision to kick a field goal on 4th and goal from the 1? In that situation, I'd think taking a knee would be better than kicking a field goal, since you are very likely to get amazing field position on your next posession.

I agree that taking a fg was a poor decision, but seeing as they had two TDs taken away from them on questionable calls by the refs, I can't really blame them, especially since one was the refs blowing the play dead too early.

I believe Tomlin wanted to kick originally, so let's assume he's attempting a 51 yard field goal. For a normal NFL kicker in a normal stadium this is a no-brainer. But Siusem has been less than reliable this year especially from distance, and Heinz Field is the hardest stadium to kick at in the NFL. Specifically, kicking in the open end of the stadium, which he was, is very difficult. I believe the 51-yarder would've been the longest in the history of the stadium on that side.
