He can't be epic every single game.
Pretty sure he's been the best cornerback on the Packers for the greater part of 10 years.
Not sure what the point of this post is....

I have the Packers D for my fantasy team. Rivers, all your passes are belong to us.

Me also. I was really hoping they'd get that td at the end.

Cool thread. I almost posted one about a squirrel that was in my backyard that resembled Jerry Kill.

I would have bothered to ask questions in this thread had you posted it.

Considering that it is so easy to cover Antonio Gates, he has instantly become the worst cornerback in the NFL.

He got caught slightly out of position on the TD. The corner who was supposed to have man coverage got toasted crispy.
The first PI on Gates was Gates making a nifty move that caused Woodson to collide with him, not the usual PI stuff.
The second was kind of horsecrap.

Totally agree. Never said he played bad ust more that he's gotten the short end of the stick today.

Big Packer fan here and obviously love Woodson as he is my favorite Wolverine. That said, this season he (and the rest of our secondary for that matter) has been picked on quite a bit. His style of play has always physical but the difference between now and a few years ago is that currently it seems as though he being physical out of necessity (i.e. with age he has lost a step and has a tough time keeping up with the faster receivers) than out of preference. Earlier he had the ability to either jam a receiver or, if that fails, keep up with them with his speed. Now, not so much so if a receiver gets past him he has to resort to interfering. In either case, he has certainly made the most out of his opportunities this year and I believe that if employed as a safety he can still be elite for another few seasons.

as a Lions fan, it pisses me off to no ends that Packers DBs get away with flagarant holdings in pretty much every plays. I hope the officials will keep their eyes close at GB DBs on Thanksgiving to curb the Packers tendency to hold WRs after 5 yards.

Woodson has always been called for a lot of PIs in the NFL. He tends to play physical, and in the league they don't tend to like defenses playing too physical anymore (I mean, you can't even hardly touch a guy after 5 yards, it's like a lot more of a basketbally version of basketball on grass, at least real basketball, not this mythical NBA basketball where if you stare at someone it might be a foul. Oh, but that doesn't exist anymore anyway...this turned in to a much longer aside than anticipated).
Anyway, Woodson has always played that way and gotten called a lot too. It's part of what makes him successful though, he takes some PIs but he also has a nack for getting in really good position and therefore getting a lot of interceptions. He also caused a fumble in that game. So it's not the end of the world.

Woodson INTs>Woodson PIs
Totes worth it.

Unfortunately, many of those INT's are against the Lions.

A lot of the Packer's defensive woes were on Tramon Williams' shoulders, and I think a lot of Woodson's struggles came from the fact that he had to cover Gates a bunch, so considering everything he was up against, I think he played pretty well. He powered through the rough parts, and GB is still undefeated.
