I wonder if Beckman will get a look down in Columbus. He's got a nice resume going
Regardless, cant see him at Toledo for much longer

Toledo was a great stepping stone for Saban, after all....
Does that make one old, if you can remember Saban coaching at Toledo?
November 1st, 2011 at 10:10 PM ^
when Frank Lauterbur was coaching at Toledo. So the answer to your question is no.

no no, sir, graduating in this century but not this decade earns you a 'marginally young' title.

My first response to this thread was mild amusement. My second was profound pride.

I switched over during the commericial break. The '98 Orange Bowl was Nebraska v. Tennessee. They are advertising this as one of "The Big Ten's Greatest Games."
I can get used to Nebraska being in the B1G now, but showing a game on the BTN as one of the B1G's greatest games, featuring teams that at the time were not in the B1G seems too weird to me.

Im at the game. It really seems to be defense optional to say the least.
November 1st, 2011 at 9:26 PM ^
Does it look like it is possible for BOTH teams to lose in all three phases of the game? It looks that way on TV.
November 1st, 2011 at 9:24 PM ^
GERG is defensive coordinator for both teams.

This game is really bad.
November 1st, 2011 at 11:45 PM ^
Was at the game, I actually asked my dad if GERG was DC for Toledo.
Absolutely no pass rush for Toledo and secondary was awful. Lack of a pash rush exposed the secondary. Give Harnish credit though, hes a good QB.

Where apparently no one has told Bill Simmons there are actually interesting sports stories outside of Boston.

Good call - Toledo ran one (successfully). I think it was Thomas Wilcher's son, who got a look from Michigan last year, who recovered it.
November 1st, 2011 at 9:44 PM ^
...or at least that is what ESPN2 claimed before the last break. I know I would want the defense to step up after they blew hard and gave up 35 points (in the case of Toledo).
ADDENDUM: 42 points given up by Toledo. I wonder if they knew that LBs and a decent secondary actually work wonders.

Why you no upset OSU?
November 1st, 2011 at 10:12 PM ^
This game is crazy.
November 1st, 2011 at 10:14 PM ^
Wow, sorry to bring bad memories, but this game is worse (or better...) than the UM vs ILL from last year

Let's go Toledo. I'm not freezing my tail off out here for nothing.
November 1st, 2011 at 10:38 PM ^
Defense optional today. NIU already in red zone.

TD Niu!

Toledo coach fail.

hope OSU gives Beckman a look
November 1st, 2011 at 10:42 PM ^
Toledo must have known that they weren't going to win with their defense ¬¬
November 1st, 2011 at 10:46 PM ^
Why the HELL did Toledo not start using time-outs with 2 or 2:30 left? With NIU at the 10-yd line with 56 points on the board? Did they think they were gonna get a stop?
November 1st, 2011 at 10:48 PM ^
Bet Toledo would have liked those 50 seconds they let NIU burn. Anyway, good result for EMU.
November 1st, 2011 at 10:49 PM ^
wow, that's some bad clock management.
November 1st, 2011 at 10:50 PM ^
Exciting stuff. Reminded me of last years illini game.

It looked like he was auditioning for Fickell's position.

Had the tv on for most of the second half. I've seen games like that before, but they were played indoors on a 50-yard field with 8 men on each side.
November 2nd, 2011 at 11:41 AM ^
Given that I've been at EMU games lately, this has good implications for EMU's chances for a MAC title. Now they just have to take care of business wtih the rest of their schedule.
