What a 180 from what we thought coming into the season. Most thought our defense would have to carry us while our offense found its footing. Instead, it's gonna be the other way around with Merrill out

with Merrill out and to start a season off hot also, seems we seem to start slower most years. So only loss so far this year is without our top goalie and when he went out it was 0-0. Go Blue and keep up the great work.

If you had told me Yost was going to get a goal horn, I would probably be pretty furious, and while I don't particularly like it still, making noise is what a crowd is (supposed to be, looking at you Michigan Stadium) for, but for having one, it's about as good as it can be.  Not obnoxiously loud (may be a product of Yost's horrible sound system and upgrades will see an obnoxiously loud goal horn) and it stops in time for the band to play "The Victors" (at least it did on Thursday or my proximity to the band negated it).

If they're dead set on having a goal horn (and I'd still rather be rid of it, but it could be far worse) I'd like to have it be someone sounding Ufer's old scoring horn into a mic.  It wouldn't be the greatest goal horn in the world, but Yost has the greatest crowd, it doesn't need the greatest (or indeed, any, but if they're going to insist...) goal horn and at least that way, that part of it would be uniquely Michigan.

Michigan Tech upsets #2 Denver 7-2 in Houghton.  Wow.  It would surprise me if Denver didnt win tomorrow, but still, VERY impressive by Mel and his boys.  Mel Pearson is now 5-2 as the Head Coach of Michigan Tech with sweeps over American International (not a good team) and Wisconsin (good, but probably not their best year, so not that good) and one win so far against Denver (VERY good, or at least supposed to be) with the series closer tomorrow.  All the wins are in Houghton and Tech got swept by Bemidji in Bemidji last weekend.

Denver puller their goalie with about 7!!!!!!! minutes left in third, down 4-1, Tech put 3 in the open net and Denver scored with a minute left to give the final margin.  Denver had a 40-28 advantage in shots and is playing their freshman back-up goalie, because their real goalie is injured, but very nice win nonetheless.

also, this is the first time I've seen the return of the block-M maize jerseys. They look real sharp. I was a fan of the diagonal "MICHIGAN" the last few years but these look pretty sweet too

I have to say I liked the Alumni band more than the usual pep band.  More energy and a nice change of pace in songs (and, a bit more energy from the band director).

Like Brian I don't like that all of seniors are one end, The students on the north end are mostly silent.  They've never really been particularly loud on that end, but this year it seems particularly bad.
