MGoMeetup to watch Wormley?

Submitted by Blazefire on

I know that Ace mentioned he was going to take the Creeper van to Whitmer this Friday to watch Chris Wormley against reasonably sized humans. I myself am from just north of that state's border, about a 10 minute drive from Whitmer. I'm thinking about going to check it out for myself. Given that, I thought I would inquire about a possibility.

Who would be interested in an MGoMeetup to watch Wormley's Whitmer Panthers take on Central Catholic this Friday at 7 PM? It's a big game and I'm sure he'd appreciate the support. We could all wear M gear, which would actually work out really nice for this game. Why would it work out nice?

If you do go, just remember to keep any Michigan apparel/signs/etc to a minimum. Even though you're not affiliated with the school, you don't want to give a Lane-Kiffin-at-Tennessee vibe with people showing up to high school games as some sort of recruitment tool (I take it you're not a sorrority girl like Kiffin sent, but still).

Don't do anything that might make us look like we're outside the rules of the recruiting laws, even if in reality what you're doing is benign.

I know Wormley is the attraction, but its also the two best teams in the NW Ohio area and they are playing for an outright conference title in the last game of the year

Make sure you get there early........

Why don't we do this. It's a big game and might fill up or come close to doing so, and people might not all arrive at the same time, especially coming from work and whatnot. Why don't we meet up at the stadium, near the ticket box, the big blue building to the north in the picture below.

Wear something Michigan to identify yourself. Afterward, if anybody wants, there's several good bars nearby such as Claddagh or Hooters.

Do not, do not, do NOT speak to any recruits, even those already committed. Do not make signs supporting individual players, or anything extolling Michigan. You can wear your Michigan gear and cheer but cheer for the teams, not the players. Do not try to represent MGoBlog there -- the blog does not condone this.

Something like this is a danger zone for recruiting violations and I advise against having a get-together at all just because one person yelling out "Go Wormley! Go Blue!" or something could trigger a problem. However you're adults and can do what you want. Remember until signing day these guys are recruits, not Michigan players, and anything you do or say to influence them to choose a school is considered recruiting.

I've been to enough HS gamesto know that this rule gets broken all the time (e.g. Buckeye fans getting nasty with players who've chosen to go to Michigan). But if I know any user on here has personally done something that makes compliance's life more difficult I will be murderously pissed.

I never attended Michigan. Never donated a dime to the school. Never had season tickets. I can do whatever the heck I like because I am in no way whatsoever even a LITTLE connected to the school.

Not that I would do any of that anyway.
