Of the teams behind us, I think only A&M has clearly played better than we have, we haven't clearly played better than any of the others. We could just as easily be at 25.

17 seems about right, especially when you look at the other teams ranked in that area. It will be interesting to see where we are when we face Purdue since we'll be inactive while teams around us win and lose, especially if Wisconsin beats MSU in a blowout.

Still think we are woefully over ranked at 17...

Suprisingly...I thought given what they had to face the D was decent enough, they gave up 21 offensive pts and held Sparty in their redzone almost the entire 2nd qtr and we did nothing to take advantage.

The problem with this team is clearly Offense and having a great athlete trying to be a Qb...there is no fix because with denard on the field you want him touching the ball at all times.

Lets not talk about th 4.5 ypc our RB's gave us when given the chance yesterday.

We are Off next wknd ..a few teams above us lose and were back in the top 15 knocking on  the door of a BCS Bowl game with a 10-2 record...VERY doable given we have 3 home games...Iowa and Illinois on the road are HUGE games for this program..Win those two and win 2 out of 3 home games and were 10-2..and in the BCS

I think I'd rather see a more manageable game like the Outback or Gator instead of a BCS bowl.  I don't think our offense fares well against a top-level team, and a blowout to end the season wouldn't help.  Let them (possibly) boost their confidence in a smaller bowl this year before stepping up into the big leagues in a year or two.  Could you imagine ending up in a game with whoever loses the LSU-Alabama game?

Frankly, I wish everyone would remember we're in a transition year. Not every transition year is as bad as 2008 was, so it's natural for expectations to be inflated after 6-0. This is still Hoke's first year, with a lot of last year's defense.  At #11, we were way overrated.  We snuck into the top 20 under Rodriguez, too, remember? And how'd that turn out? Expectations need to be tempered.

Not to say that it wouldn't be great to be in the BCS, but I don't think we're good enough yet to be or to beat a BCS team.

The game was closer than the score suggests... 3-4 pivotal plays go our way and we could have won this one. Granted, we didn't play as well as we should have, but it was a closer game than you might think just by looking at the score. No. 17 seems like right around where we should have been going into this game.

Are these polls based on what you have done so far, or are they supposed to predict how you will do in the future?

Seems like other than pre-season, and end of season, the polls are some strange combination of the two, making interpretation extremely difficult.

What we've done, and the circumstances under which we've managed to get a 6-1 record, I can buy these rankings. I would think that if we go 3-2 the rest of the way, then we're on the border of the top fifteen, which for a first year coach and a new system would be great really.

We can still win the Big Ten, MSU  will lose to Wisconsin, Nebraska,, they still have to play Iowa which has had thier number, and a very good NW team, the division will come down to us versus Nebraska. If we only lose 1 more Big Ten game we will go to the championship game.

For us to win our division, we need this to happen:

MSU loses to Wisconsin and either A) Nebraska, or B) any 2 other teams.
We beat Nebraska, or Nebraska loses to 2 other teams.
Michigan wins all other games.

Its possible, but the only realistic way we win the division is if we win out and MSU loses to Nebraska and Wisconsin.

Last two years we were desperately hoping for a 6th win and bowl game.  Last year it was pray for 6 and wonder if the coach is getting fired.

This year...no drama, 6 wins out of the gate and bowl eligible, and ranked in the top 20.  Seems like a tremendous jump to me.

At the beginning of the season I told people I would be happy with 20-25 @ the end of the year.  We were over-ranked at 11, but 15-20 is where I think we'll finish the year.  In two years, after getting more of Hoke's kids, we're gonna be top 10.

Just be patient!

These are more real.  The game was much closer than you think, remember Michigan was driving down the field down by a touchdown with 7 minutes left in the game when we failed to convert that 4th and 1.
