Kickoff to "Hate Week", Day One.

Submitted by GunnersApe on

Since those bastards in EL have had and extra week to stock up on couches and gas mask, let’s reflect on why we hate on Hate Week.

#1 Spartan Bob

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2001_Michigan_vs._Michigan_State_football_game

The 2001 Michigan State vs. Michigan football game, also known as "The Catch", "Clockgate", or the "Clock Game", was played on November 3, 2001 at Spartan Stadium.[1]

While the game was closely-played throughout, it is the game's conclusion that is most remembered. On fourth-and-goal, with one second remaining in the fourth quarter, Michigan State quarterback Jeff Smoker threw a touchdown pass to running back T. J. Duckett as time expired to win 26-24.[2] The clock had run out of time before the last play of the game took place, but with one second showing on the clock, the Spartans were allowed to have one last play.[3] Regardless, following the game the Michigan head coach Lloyd Carr chose to file a petition to change the way the game time was kept and the NCAA now keeps official time on the field.[4]

#2 1974 Rose Bowl.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1973_Ohio_State_vs._Michigan_football_game

On the day after the game, following a conference call, it was announced that Ohio State would play in the Rose Bowl instead of Michigan. Schembechler was furious at the call, referring to it as "an embarrassment to the Big Ten Conference" and claiming "petty jealousies" were involved.[2] Schembechler went on to demand changes to the Big Ten's policies regarding post-season play. Schembechler was particularly bitter because his 1973 team did not lose a game and was not rewarded with a bowl assignment, and remained angry at the vote until his death in 2006. Schembechler also claimed the Franklin injury was just an excuse, since Ohio State's strength was a running game and not a passing attack.[3]

It was rumored that Michigan State University voted for Ohio State in retaliation for Michigan's "no" vote in 1949 against admitting Michigan State to the Big Ten. This charge was never substantiated. For months afterward, Ohio State newspapers would be flooded with letters from angry Wolverine fans, and threats of lawsuits.

Deep thought of the day by Silkey Johnston, " I hate you. I hate you. I don't even know you, and I hate your guts. I hope all the bad things in life happen to you and nobody else but you."

I actually don't hate MSU all that much, but man do I hate Dantonio. He is a genuinly horrible human being. I hope he gets the Ohio State job - those two are tailor-made for each other.

I absolutely detest Michigan State. They celebrate like theyve won the Rose Bowl after every single play. They are the cockiest team in the B1G by far, and i'm sick of all the douchebags from high school going out of their way to contact me during the game the past two years... They are a joke

This team will be amped and ready to go, we just can't turn the ball over first half. Stay within one score going into half, and the way we've played second half so far, we'll be strong.

I hate the Sparty fans.

In and of itself the university and their student athletes are not terrible individuals (save the actual and should be felons - ahem, Winston).

Their fans on the otherhand are absolutely insufferable. My observation living in Saginaw, MI is that outside of Ann Arbor and sections of Metro Detroit, there is a largely 2:1 fan count for Sparty, and they find the most offensive and obnoxious way about them. Every Sparty I know has been asking what kind of taunting we will be throwing their way when we win (they seem to have little faith this year) - and my response has been "none - the focus is on beating Ohio and winning the B1G" - which irks them to no end. It's clear that by continuing to show indifference toward them will be the best way to not only drive them nuts, but to continue to foster the sensation that they are little brother.

I hate spartan fans because most are irratinoal and slightly retarted. They think they know what they are talking about but they dont. And also because our good friends at RCMB are rabidly obsessed with michigan and their hate for said university. Just go check the amount of threads they have againist michigan, at least we have some sort of respect for MSU, they call us stupid shit like scUM, they are so unrepectable.

Yeah, because nothing says respect for MSU like calling our fan base "retarted."

By the way, a little friendly advice, if you're going to insult somebody's intelligence, you should at least learn how to spell properly.

Because they act as though MSU is the #2 institution of higher learning in the state. In reality, they aren't even in the top 5. I've been told I can't make fun of MSU's academics if I didn't go to Michigan, but my school is ranked 234 spots higher than MSU and is only 45 miles south.

Anxiously awaiting valenties meltdown after denard goes all notre dame on them. A last second touchdown drive by shoelace should send that douche into a "pucker pucker pucker" frenzy. Yeahhh I can picture it now.. "MAKE PLAYS.. MAKE PLAYS.. MAKE PLAYSSSSSS,".. But I would rather beat the snot out of them, something like 35-7. That would really shut sparty up. And the look on dantonios face would be the icing on the cake

No arguments or hate needed. To quote the late Al Davis,"Just Win Baby". That'll bring things back to how they should be. Their offense is okay, I know Hoke and Mattison know how important this game is, and they'll have some things to confuse Cousins and force some throws to Cunningham. Is this the week Countess plays the No. 1 opposing WR? With some safety help up top, I think it's a great idea. Going to need the DL to step up, especially the subs, like Will Campbell. Kovacs will probably have a good day. Didn't show much on offense against NU, so we'll have some new things to show Sparty. I can't really break down the Michigan O vs. Sparty D, but I think our talent, chemistry and explosiveness wil help. Sparty has a great defense, but they are weak in the secondary which is good for Denard. I think we see a lot of misdirection, Sparty's defense is very aggressive and if we get them to attack in one direction, we'll do pretty well going the other way.

There's someone parking in my reserved spot (come on people, it's covered and numbered). He has a Spartan plate liner. The tow truck is on its way as we speak. Sparty on man, Sparty on.

I don't hate Sparty. I hate losing to Sparty. I sorely miss the smug condescension and pity that comes with beating them that should be my birthright as a Michigan fan.

Their coach has one of the worst attitudes in coaching. That's the difference between Brady and him, Dantonio says what he's thinking without holding back and Hoke won't say anything negative in public, and they stole our radio station although now we have wwj.

By MSU alums and their 'experiences' while at state. I can't tell you how many I've spoken with that can remember the smell of tear gas and such from various events while in EL. Just thinking of this always brings a smile to my face, just or the fact that I didn't go to school in Mogadishu.

Just congratulate your Sparty friends this week on their best season last year in a half century, they deserved it. A week from today M will be 7-0 and things will be back to how they used to be.

I read one Sparty listing off why he hates UM. One thing that kind of struck me as odd was that "We stole their wings". I'm sorry, did Crisler coach at State before UM? Because last I knew, Crisler was the one that came up with that concept at Princeton.

Also, he whines that we tried forcing them out of the state, prevented them from having a med school, tried keeping them out of the B1G, and blah blah blah. Is it Saturday yet?

A pesky fly that we would occasionally lose to but would come back blow them out for 5 consecutive years. But in the past 10 years I'm totally sick of them and hope we can slap them down in E.Lansing! They are now the team I hate worse, even worse than ND. At least OSU does not play dirty! This is a team I would like to see Michigan beat like a drum.

I hate you Sparty.
I hate you with every piece of my being.
I didn't hate you growing up in a different state.
I didn't hate you while I was a student at Michigan.
You were essentially insignificant as I really didn't have to deal with you but once a year.
Then, many years later, I moved to the State of Michigan.
Then I learned about who Sparty is.
I learned about the incredible inferiority complex of the actual alums and their never ending gloating on their rare wins.
I learned that Sam's Club Sparty is 10,000 times more obnoxious (and generally.more dangerous due to alcohol and gun totingness) than Walmart Wolverine.
I found out it's just easier to not bother with new people I meet once I hear they're Sparties. It's just not worth it.
Then I had kids and they were subjected to friends, teachers and neighbors who try to get them to say "Go Green" or buy them a goddamned Sparty t-shirt.
The fact that I had to pull one of their teachers aside to tell them that I don't teach my kids to aspire to mediocrity and I prefer she not either annoys me.

Sparty - this is Hate Week - AND I F$#KING HATE YOU!

They get sooooo pissed when you mention anything like "little brother". Yet they forget that before the 2007 game I'm pretty sure one of their players first said "they treat us like their little brother".

Then after the game Mike Hart made the comparision and the reporter asked "Do you consider msu your little brother?" And Mike said "Yep. Hey that's what they think that's what I'm gonna think."

I don't really hate anyone, but if I was going to make an exception, it would be for Ohio. I don't have enough respect for MSU to actually hate them. I detest all things Sparty, though; is that close enough?

I tried to respect Sparty as a child, but when confronted by the harsh reality of their deep and unending hatred of me, I came to the realization that in this world there is no living with the Spartans of the world. As such, I truly and deeply hate them. They are a burning sensation in my urine, like the clamp one might catch from the whores they call students. They are incesent children, the kind found in a supermarket crying for attention from their horrid parents, both in dire need a beating. I hate them for betraying their home state for the sake of hatred, wearing scarlet and gray in November as a futile attempt to show their disrespect. I hate them for claiming so falsely that they could have gone to Michigan, yet chose to attend an infurior school (a sign in and of itself of their stupidity). I hate that they infiltrate Ann Arbor, and drink themselves into oblivion, filling our streets with vomit and urine. I hate that in the last three years they embarassed us so thoroughly that I had to bite my tongue. I hate that they cannot comprehend that I do not in fact hate them, and in reality the only school I hate is in Ohio. They are are insignificant to me, and yet they persist in their annoyance. So I hate them, for hating me. Sparty No!
