Good resume including success against (and obvious dislike for) UM.

Strong ties to OSU.

Knows the Big Ten.

No way Meyer takes the job and I wouldn't be surprised if Dantonio lobbies for it behind the scenes.

He's a massive douche.

I've heard all of the reasons why it'll never happen... I still put the chances of him being in Cbus by the new year at better than 50/50.

These guys go into broadcasting and get soft. They've all already won everything there is to win and now they have high pay work 1/100th as much, have zero stress and still get all the perks of being relevant to the sport. Name me one guy who retired to broadcasting, came back and succeeded, there are none. Because guys retire and get soft, if you don't have the hunger to be a miserable workaholic, than it't not going to happe.

I hope Meyer does go to Columbus. It will be nice to see Brady send him into permanent retirement in less then 5 years. Meyer rode Tebow's back to success, not the countless thugs he recruited and played.

I guess my only question is this - why would someone who left coaching because of his health want to coach in an atmosphere which is more or less specifically arranged to accommodate the unhealthy, as it were? I can't see where he would necessarily want to walk into humiliated, fractured program with a disillusioned, deluded fanbase and pretend to be the answer  - the expectations alone, you would think, are sufficient to make his heart go nova from the stress.

Speaking of potential nova events, the tidbit about Dantonio saying he would "at least listen" to an offer should be enough to start the accretion of schadenfreude material from East Lansing.

I think a couple things are obvious:

1. Dantonio would jump at this job the way Hoke jumped at the Michigan job.  OSU is 'home' to him, not East Lansing.

2.  OSU doesn't want Dantonio.

3.  Urban Meyer is #1 on virtually every bucknuts list.

4. It is questionable whether Meyer wants to coach again, especially in the near future.

5.  If he does want to coach again, there seem to be many reasonable choices out there...of programs that are not in disarray, that are not under the NCAA knife, etc.

6.  After Meyer, there are no clear cut answers for the Buckeyes.

I don't think OSU doesn't want Danotonio, he's just not at the top of their list.  And as we saw from Michigan coaching searches, who the fans want and who the AD gets doesn't always line up.

While I would hate him to be at osu, I would love for him to end up at psu. I think it would make b10 stronger, and give osu another really tough game every year.

Maybe Dantonio would be a great hire for OSU. He has a lot of ties to the program and absolutely hates Michigan (and has a winning record against us too, I might add). He won a Big 10 championship at Michigan State last year, beating a very good Wisconsin team. He keeps beating Michigan without having nearly the recruiting pipeline that we do (even last year, in the middle of a coaching transition, Michigan STILL out-recruited Michigan State). If you can get a winning record against Michigan at MSU, you should be able to do at least as well at OSU, right?

Reading that article was a chore.  What is with all the one-sentence "paragraphs"?  Is it that hard to write with some kind of structure?
