ACE: Jordan Payton Announcing in 2 Weeks

Submitted by Ace on

Brian gave me a heads up on this, and I haven't seen it posted on the board yet—Oaks Christian's game was televised last night, and before it started the announcing crew said that Payton told them he would be announcing his decision in two weeks, after his visit to Notre Dame on the weekend of October 21st. His final choices are Michigan, ND, Cal, and Arizona State, and this one looks good for the Wolverines barring a game-changing visit to South Bend.

Just fired up the DVR to watch Payton, and an intrepid MGoReader is capping some highlights for me, so by the end of the weekend (or Monday at the latest) those should be posted along with my general impressions of his game.

Payton got three receptions in the first quarter last night, one for 41 yards, one for a touch down. After that, nothing was thrown his way. This was probably, as the coaches said, because Westlake's D-Line was so dominant there was little or no time to target a deep threat like Payton.

Or maybe a top O-line class that is almost all college ready (at least Minnesota college ready which I'll take) at the ripe old age of 18? That'll by some time

Or a hs junior quarterback who can throw the ball 80 yards?

I've got a couple of those if you'd like to pool our resources...

I also watched the game last night. That TD catch he had was nice. It was on a post route and the ball was thrown a bit a high and away from him, but luckily he's 6'2 and has long arms. He definitely is built like a D1 prospect. Doesnt have elite speed, but we all knew that. I  hope he commits to UM, he will be a very good pick up.
