OT: OSU-MSU this Sat - what do you think ?

Submitted by rockydude on

Bucks play Sparty this Saturday in Columbus. Neither has really gotten off to the kind of start that they were hoping for this season.

What do you all think? Which of our rivals is going to get the win, and which is going to be exposed with a poor record to start the year?

At this point I am going to say that the MSU D can handle Braxton Miller, but I am definitely open to being swayed . . .

I hate that the new division structure makes it better for Michigan if OSU wins.  That is bush.  also, division winner is decided by total conference record, so I hope all the East division teams win. Go Ohio, go Wisco, go Penn State.

I was just going to say something to this effect.

I think Ohio wins this game, but it will be a close one. An Ohio win is better for Michigan. I used to always root for Sparty to beat Ohio, but now I can't do that ever again. We need teams in our division to start losing now.

I agree with this.  In a typical year (which means most years more than three years ago), I would usually want Sparty to knock off the Buckeyes.   But whenever Sparty is feeling too full of himself, I want anyone to put them back in their place.

I don't know how to deal with the division thing -- go with my heart or my head.  This year, there is no difference.

Go Bucks.  Arghhh.

Seems like a stretch to classify wanting your division rival to lose their first game is tantamont to "backing into a championship".  I see nothing wrong with wanting your division rivals to lose to increase your odds/wiggle room.  Should we only accept division titles if we are undefeated in conference?  Sounds like you would say yes, because otherwise by definition, your division rivals would have had to also lose and thus you would have "backed into" the title.

This where I miss tie games.  Since that can't happen, let the loser be Sparty.  I don't want them building up a head of steam before we play them.

This is one game where no one team can gain my support. Although a strong urge within me hopes (forgive me Bo) MSU wins BUT only because Ohio State is in such dismay right now. My hatred for State will always be strong. My hatred for tOSU will always be stronger...

I'd like to see OSU win. It hates me to say that, but it helps us out in our division. Also, I have to hear the shit of way more state fans than OSU fans on a daily basis, so seeing MSU lose is always a little sweeter.

That being said, I think MSU wins.

I'm on board with that, but I'd like to see something classically Sparty happen that opens the door for Ohio.  MSU implusion where they blow a big lead, MSU has a silly penalty (too many men on the field?) on 4 and 4 that gives Ohio a first down in a key moment after it looks like they were stopped...

Anything that would cause both teams to lose; falling space junk, the horseshoe is actually a giant sinkhole, alien abduction, isolated zombie invasion.

Sparty needs to be put in their place. I want them to go 5-7 this year, miss a bowl, and spend the next 20 years talking about the good old days when they beat U-M three times in a row.

I am on board with this rationale.  The boasting of Sparty fans that theirs is an ascendant program must be stopped.  Nothing will accomplish other than a few old-fashioned ass whoopings by the historic powers.  Sparty needs to accept that their ceiling is somewhat higher than Purdue, but lower than Wisco or PSU on an average year.

Dunno. It will be low scoring. OSU will destroy MSU's O-line, and MSU's D will handle Miller and the OSU's skilled positions. I think I'll give the edge to OSU because this will be the first time any MSU player sets foot in the horseshoe.

My rooting interest is for the game to be cancelled and somehow that counts as a loss to both teams. I can dream, can't I?

In terms of who will win, I dont see MSU losing this game. I look to the Ohio game in Miami, and then seeing how Miami isn't that good against KSU and it makes me think that Ohio doesn't have a chance. More confidence building for Sparty
