MGoAuction: Something WAY different - Passes to cut the line and no cover at Rick's for Homecoming!
September 23rd, 2011 at 7:53 PM ^
My apologies if this auction is going to a good cause and what not, but I'd rather wait in line forever to use a dirty port-a-potty then skip the line/pay no cover to get into Rick's. How so many people continue to frequent that place is beyond me.

its a state of mind my friend

Every fundraising auction I've ever attended (or checked out online) has things up for bidding that I could not give a rat's ass about. You get a variety of items and a variety of bidders and it works out.

I think it's great that they're adding items that appeal to a different sort of bidder and are advertising it to make sure more people know about it.

You're going to need to toss in some pink polos, because I lack the attire to meet Rick's dress code.

If a shower and STD screen are included then maybe

I love coming home with new STD's. It's like opening a Christmas present every time I wake up, I never know what I come home with. You should go to Rick's just so you can try it out. /s

but c'mon the dude is trying to raise money for a good cause and you know someone with money leftover from his pink polo and STD screen budget will grab this. good on ya for raising money to help deserving kids pay for a fine UM education, OP.

But yeah, they are stepping up. So kudos to them. Thanks Ricks.
And JBA, awesome what you're doing, but maybe cut down on the melodrama.

Dude, it's MGoBlog, you're going to get snarked at around here. Rick's is popular with a specific crowd and I'm pretty sure that crowd is not internet surfing on Friday night (unless there was a problem with their roofie shipment).
It's awesome Rick's is stepping up, but I don't think your target audience for this auction is on the blog. Hit up the Pan-Hel council and ask them to send out an email advertising this. That will get those passes moving and the charity a nice profit, rendering our snark meaningless.

Ricks is popular with everyone given the right level of intoxication.

It's nice that Hesse is "stepping up" and all, but he generally lets 40-50 people skip the line and cover on any given Saturday. I was waiting in line after the Notre Dame game and saw dozens of people just show up and skip the line. Hell, I had skip the line privileges for years just because I was friends with some of the bartenders and other managers. (I don't even know if they have any more managers than Hesse these days). I was just disappointed they seem to have expired this year as everybody I know that works there has finally graduated/moved on. You used to be able to go to Ricks right after a noon or 330 game, buy a drink, get a stamp and then leave and come back at any point in the night and skip the line.
It's like getting a skip the line pass at Cedar Point or Disney World, it's nice to have, but it doesn't cost the establishment jack shit.

Be wary of Rick's coupons to skip the lines or free enter. My friend had some awhile back as compensation for giving her license away to another person. We tried using these passes on a Saturday night and the bouncer told us that we couldn't use them on Saturdays. The passes said no such restriction on them. So be wary.

1. Bid on passes and win them
2. Acquire successful wingman
3. Go to Rick's at about 11pm
4. Take your pick of lovely coeds waiting in line with inferior dates
5. ???
6. Profit?
From here on, the ball is in your court. Whatever the outcome, you're supporting a good cause with your bid.

I wish I could (it's a good cause afterall) but I don't meet the age requirements yet for Ricks. And I'll have to think about the Brandon Graham jersey, don't have the $$ now but if it stays under the radar by mid-October I'll have to give it a look
