It was nice seeing this Michigan native play for the Red Wings, even though he was injured most of the year.

Really wished he came back home earlier in his career when he was serviceable.

Never was a big fan of his (I hated the Stars) but he was as pretty a skater as there ever was. Always a classy guy. Helluva career.

He was the Stars' equivalent of Stevie Y in many ways. It was fun seeing him play in Detroit when he was healthy.

HOF'er for sure. Another Michigan native to add to that list. I too wish he could have been a Red Wing earlier in his career, but they love him there in Dallas.

The ice rink in Westland named for him used to just have a big mural of him hoisting the Cup in his Stars uniform. I was pleasantly surprised to see, upon returning home recently, that they added 2 more murals of him -- one in the USA uniform and one in the Wings jersey. His stint with the Wings didn't turn out as I would have wished, but he'll always be loved as a hometown boy.

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG career. Best of luck, Modano. Still hard not to think of you as the pretty boy kid in the green and yellow jersey.

Modano actually did some professional male modeling earlier in his career. Don't ask me how I know that. . . .
GO BLUE!
