Are you really that bored on a Monday?

Actually, yes.

Any place we can listen online?
September 19th, 2011 at 1:36 PM ^
1.) Have Banshee from X-Men scream directly into your ear for two hours.
2.) Locate icepick
3.) Draw replica of MSU spartan with unibrow on icepick
4.) Insert icepick into ear canal until pain resulting from #1 "goes away"

where you can also find the listen live thingy

Like Drew Sharp and all the other internet flamers, the more he pisses you off, the more you listen to his inane gibberish, and the more advertising revenue he gets.
Biggest POS show in the Detroit market. Not something I miss about home.

Someone give a play by play for us who are podcast deficient.

Valenti is a jackass. That's why I stopped listening to him.
I doubt this is even a rant for him anyway. It wasn't a usual Spartan choke job. They weren't favored over the weekend, although I picked them to win. Maybe he'll rant about that pathetic fake field goal attempt by Dantonio that everyone in the world saw coming but I don't see what else.
My guess is Valenti talks very little about the MSU/ND game and instead takes phone calls from the stupidest Michigan fans that will call in (because he and Foster refuse to ever take phone calls from logical Michigan fans.) That sets the stage for Valenti to make fun of Michigan fans in his usual condescending voice. And Foster, naturally, will continue to bait him by saying, "We're Michigan and we're back!!!" to make Valenti rant even more. That takes the attention off of Sparty losing big and puts it on Michigan fans being stupid.
This is exactly why I stopped listening to those guys. They're a little too predictable.

That's why I'm only listening to their producer explain his prediction that the Chiefs would make the Lions game close. Once I hear that, I'm back to regularly scheduled programming.
September 19th, 2011 at 1:58 PM ^
It looks like we'll be ignoring the MSU game for the first half hour of the show...somebody should call in and bait him.
September 19th, 2011 at 2:02 PM ^
Why don't we out smart them by calling in and say we're going to talk about how "State lost to Notre Dame and Michigan beat Notre Dame so Michigan will beat state for sure" in a hick-southern accent... but then when we actually get on the program we can make a decent point.

Could a screener really tell if you're a logical caller within a few seconds? I mean, it's obvious when you've got a mouth-breather on the line, but has anyone actually had the experience of calling that show, speaking intelligently to the screener before being put on the air and then have them tell you "No thanks, not what we're looking for" before hanging up?

I think they could be fairly entertaining but your right, it is nothing but a script that repeats itself over and over again. Valienti knows what is coming though, he follows this stuff. He knows Michigan is about to take the state back over and the MSU wasted whatever window they had. My guess is they will gradually begin to talk far less college football as time goes on. Not sure that show is even viable once Michigan becomes Michigan again.

Bringing up Valenti picqued my interest re: meltdowns therein.

Did he try to clap?
September 19th, 2011 at 1:48 PM ^
He was MIA the day after we beat MSU in hoops in February. So he may take another "scheduled day off". Or maybe they'll just talk Lions all day long. I'll wait until the Monday after we beat State next month to listen to Valenti.
Personally I'm looking forward to hearing their producer explain why he thought the Chiefs would keep the Lions game close.

Update: if were live blogging it then t minus 58 minutes until Valenti meltdown.

... he'll have some comments after 3 pm; already said Saturday no rant forthcoming:

I thought Sparty was overrated. The real pain for them comes in October when they play tOSU, Michigan, Wisconsin and Nebraska.
September 19th, 2011 at 2:34 PM ^
they could easily beat OSU, if OSU finds no way to have an offense.. cause miami is not good and they handily beat them

Well, I don't blame you. And NASCAR wrecks are a lot better than the ones on 97.1.
