The Lucky Cursed Jersey

Submitted by yvgeni on

I received an autographed Michigan jersey as a gift during the cold winter of 2007 from a family member that has some connections to the team.

It immediately became my prized possession considering that going into the fall of '07 the whole world was our oyster and a victory over the Buckeyes was a foregone conclusion.  The fact that it was a Manningham jersey was epic, and it had all the signatures from the most important players, as if to say “this jersey is ready to lead you to the national championship in 2008 with senior leadership, experience and poise!” Best jersey ever!! Right?

Yeah, not so much.  So now this jersey (which cost me $500 to frame btw) hangs in my hallway, taunting me with its ironicalness (once you see the signatures, you’ll understand).  At one point after THE HORROR, I considered destroying the jersey.  After the loss to OSU, I almost did it.

But now I realize that would have been a catastrophic mistake.  You see, what I have in my possession is none other than the highly sought after, super elusive… Lucky Cursed Jersey.

So I present it to you now for you to gaze upon and revere.  Going into Saturday, I want you to be at ease; because the Lucky Cursed Jersey’s magnificent power watches over us and protects us.  Frankly, victory is guaranteed.

But of course if we lose to Utah, I’m going to burn the m#$#@#$er like it’s an East Lansing couch.

Yeah then you and your bro could tag team him, you know, double stuff style like a rotisserie chicken. You could high five each other as that faggot cries tears of unsufferable pain as the wrath of your giant members rips apart his insides like horses on rabbits. Then you could look into each others eyes and know that at that particular moment in time that you were whole.

That's a great piece of memorabilia. It's a lasting image of the end of the Bo era. Keep that forever, you never know what will come of your beloved Wolverines. It will be nice to have something to remind you of the Lloyd years. I think its really cool, even the Boren signature. How strange is it to have that signature now? It's like having Jordan's other jersey (don't know if you guys remember, but at one point Jordan's #23 got stolen so he had to wear #12 or something odd like that). Well, it's not exactly like that, but, uhhh, well it's like something, anyways.

There are a number of signatures on that jersey that could have stellar NFL careers that would definitely make it valuable.

You could just see someone looking at it in 20 years saying "I didn't know that Michigan had all of these NFL greats at the same time. Man, they must have had one hell of season." Then you could tell them!

That's not exactly the Ark of the Covenant that any army bearing it cannot be defeated... but then again maybe it helped us win the games in the middle last year. Couldn't hurt.
