Stanford and Washington taking officials to Michigan, not OSU
doesn't mean they won't take non-officials to OSU of course. and probably means that we're still in the running.

I am sorry but this is bullshit.
They are not coming to Michigan. Our very own Tim has said as much on Rivals, as recently as today.
August 29th, 2011 at 3:44 PM ^
Sam Webb also said (something to the effect of) don't hold your breath for those two.
August 29th, 2011 at 5:27 PM ^
Use them up kids, you will never get five free trips again to watch a football game for free?
August 29th, 2011 at 7:56 PM ^
At this point do we even take them. I'm serious I don't know. I mean, we need a WR, and Stanford would be perfect, but do we really spend another scholly on yet another DE? Is Washington in the elite class of athlete that we would spend a discretionary scholarship on?
August 29th, 2011 at 9:09 PM ^
Did you not see the show Washington put on this week against Friendship Academy. He is an elite DE ALL THE WAY! THe kid would come in and make an impact right away at Michigan. He is that good, if Washington wants to come you make a way for him to come.
August 29th, 2011 at 9:13 PM ^
Personally, I just sit back and think, "We have a small number of slots to complete the class. Every player in consideration is either a 4 or 5 * talent. There's no wrong answer."
August 29th, 2011 at 3:45 PM ^
It's according to their coach and a legit online source. We now have more need at WR which would explain Stanford still having interest and Washington could be a huge cog in the D-line machine Michigan will have in a few years. A visit does not make us their favorites but it seems to make sense that they would take an official.
August 29th, 2011 at 3:47 PM ^
Tim spoke with them personally. Ain't going to happen. I am shocked actually that Stanford is taking a visit. Washington said he would, but we are clearly his 5th option and OSU is way out ahead.
August 29th, 2011 at 3:50 PM ^
I agree that they are not likely to commit, but is the fact that they want to take official visits in question? Once they get on campus anything could happen, especially if it's for the ND game.
August 29th, 2011 at 4:03 PM ^
Sometimes in life, it is good to be realistic and not hold out hope for those things that have a slight non-zero chance of coming true.
I guess they could come here. Anything is possible. But I didn't want everyone to get their hopes up that doesn't have a Rivals subscription.
August 29th, 2011 at 4:03 PM ^
he's saying that the visit is a waste of time because they'll never come here.
August 29th, 2011 at 3:46 PM ^
said it 5 minutes ago, so suck it.
August 29th, 2011 at 3:54 PM ^
He is not ours anymore. :(
August 29th, 2011 at 4:00 PM ^
He's saying it's a waste of time and money because there is no way that they end up here.

August 29th, 2011 at 4:04 PM ^
He's right, too. No one has ever changed his mind about a school after taking a visit.
August 29th, 2011 at 4:12 PM ^
TomVH re-tweeted the article. OMG. Someone call the fucking zoo.
Tim SPOKE with both of them. Says it ain't happening.
August 29th, 2011 at 4:30 PM ^
For the record, I don't necessarily think you're wrong. I just think you're being a dick about it.
August 29th, 2011 at 6:09 PM ^
Just wait until Waggles comments on this, Beavis' head may explode.
August 29th, 2011 at 4:03 PM ^
You think the article is bullshit or you think its bullshit that we have any chance?
August 29th, 2011 at 10:07 PM ^
"Rivals very own Tim" and not "our very own Tim"
August 29th, 2011 at 3:42 PM ^
Unexpected yet excellent news. It has to mean something (if only a little something).
August 29th, 2011 at 3:42 PM ^
I know we're probably looking at 27-28 scholarships at this point, but I'd imagine those are ticketed for 1-2 OL, 2 WR, O'Brien, and maybe Yuri Wright.
August 29th, 2011 at 3:42 PM ^
This is surprising but i still dont think we have a chance with either of them.
August 29th, 2011 at 3:42 PM ^
After watching the both of them over the weekend I really hope this is true. I was impressed by their play. Hopefully they'll make it for an official.
August 29th, 2011 at 3:45 PM ^
Is it BS? Doesn't seem like stretch for them to visit...commit maybe but not visit.
August 29th, 2011 at 3:43 PM ^
This just means that they want a free flight and gameday experience at Michigan (and the other schools, which are all expensive flights/tickets). They can make the 2-hour drive to Columbus anytime they want.
August 29th, 2011 at 3:53 PM ^
I second your truth.
August 29th, 2011 at 3:48 PM ^
Today on an ITF extra Tim wrote than neither of these two are high on Michigan from what he could gather from a convo with them. FYI. They are probably both buckeyes. They very well may not take officials to OSU though because they have already been there on un-officials...
August 29th, 2011 at 3:57 PM ^
Stanford has an actual offer from OSU? There's always been some questions about that and his stock isn't exactly rising...
August 29th, 2011 at 7:06 PM ^
Good point as I remember hearing the same. I took a look and Rivals is reporting that he does. Sometimes those are not updated for a while though. I would assume he does. 4 star WR with interest...
August 29th, 2011 at 3:49 PM ^
Where is the ace spotlight?
August 29th, 2011 at 3:50 PM ^
Maybe they got all the ink work they wanted done in highschool and didn't deem it necessary to go to OSU?
August 29th, 2011 at 3:51 PM ^
1) Are schools limited in the amount of official visits they can have?
2) Would we deny them official visits because of where we are with them in recruiting (i.e. no longer a position need which Washingtion kind of is or the Maurice Clarett debacle)?
August 29th, 2011 at 4:19 PM ^
Schools can host as many officials as they need to but some schools obviously limit this practice such as Hawaii where the kid needs to show genuine interest before they will allow an official to happen.
I believe there was a kid last year that Mich had no shot at who wanted to official and we were like thanks but no thanks as you want to have your recruiters/hosts spend as much time with a prospect that actually wants to come to Mich and not waste it.
August 29th, 2011 at 4:34 PM ^
i believe you are talking about the USC commit who changed to Oregon at the last second. He was from LA. I forgot his name also.

Arizona State...
I bet they can't wait to check out the library.
August 29th, 2011 at 9:19 PM ^
August 29th, 2011 at 11:20 PM ^
I figured he was talking about "The Library" in Tempe, a brilliantly named bar that IIRC no longer exists. The (probably ASU student) girls danced on the bar while wearing schoolgirl-ish uniforms. It was swell.
August 29th, 2011 at 4:09 PM ^
Is there any reason to let let them visit? I am not sure they are worried about the cost, it is in Ohio. also, would people rather they not visit. Maybe there is no chance.
August 29th, 2011 at 4:10 PM ^
there might be future recruits we're interested in and you don't piss off the school or coaching staff by saying no.
August 29th, 2011 at 4:09 PM ^
I love how some people are so sure about things on here. People act like they are hanging around these high schoolers all day and know exactly what they are going to do. You sound so ridiculous.

August 29th, 2011 at 4:49 PM ^
Thats what she said!
August 29th, 2011 at 4:38 PM ^
So, the NCAA is going to do whatever they're going to do. And if I was going to bet, I would think they wouldn't do a thing with regards to Tatgate. However . . .
If, despite all the signs pointing otherwise, Ohio had scholarship reductions and a bowl ban for a couple years, would that open things up? What happens if Pryor, or someone in the auto dealership, or someone else, revealed more dirt? Ya never know what could happen.
In this recruiting dance, it usually doesn't hurt to keep doors open and not to burn bridges. Until such time as we have commitments from a couple wide receivers, and more on the OL, and O'Brien, it would make sense to me to show Stanford, Washington, AND Dunn a good time. I'd love to see Michigan pick up all three. It hurts Ohio more, and all three would be excellent pickups.
I don't think, assuming nothing happens to OSU, that Washington or Stanford will end up at Michigan. Shoot, they might commit to Ohio even WITH NCAA sanctions. However, the cost of an official visit can't be THAT much. Making them welcome, and reaching out to them, is realatively low cost and low risk, for a potentially very high reward. I appreciate that we have the cajones to official them, even if the WOTS is they aren't going to don the Maize and Blue.
August 29th, 2011 at 4:40 PM ^
What just a darn minute. Their coach says they are visiting and we're not supposed to get excited about it? Logically you would think they had a change of heart and perhaps are taking another look at Michigan. Apparently Mattison is known as the "rottweiler" when it comes to recruiting, maybe he gave them a call recently and it's as simple as that.
