Denard = Most Explosive Man in Football /Rivals top 10

Relevant bits:

1. QB Denard RobinsonMichigan, Jr.
Buzz: Robinson is like a time bomb: Sooner or later, he's going to explode. Each time Robinson tucks the football, opposing fans hold their breath because he always seems one step away from making a big play. Last season, his first as a full-time starter in former coach Rich Rodriguez's spread offense, Robinson had 16 runs that covered at least 20 yards and seven that exceeded 30 yards. He had at least one 20-yard gain in nine of the Wolverines' 13 games last season. He scored touchdowns on runs of 87, 72, 47, 32 and 32 yards. He also had 12 pass completions of more than 40 yards. That's more than Stanford's Andrew Luck. A big question with Robinson is how the new Michigan staff will make use of his talents.

Bomb set for 6 days.

I hadn't ever really considered what it would be like to root AGAINST Denard.  I'm trying to think of a player Michigan has faced in recent years with a comparable Barry Sanders-esque holy-shit-tackle-him-before-he-does-something-unbelievable ridiculousness.

Not to say this is equivalent to Denard, but your comment immediately took me to flashbacks of Donovan McNabb running all over us one game in the 90s (forgot what year), including running for a TD with one shoe on.

Edit: I guess it was '98.

but not as explosive.  I squirmed through that entire game as he constantly eluded or D line and scrabled for yards.  I do not think there were as many plays that were actually set up for him to run.  My recollection is that most of the yards were off of scrambles.  This was a game I would like to forget.  So thanks a lot for making me squirm again.  Grrrr.

I found myself yelling "put your shoes back on!" from the student section that day because, well, I had nothing else to yell.  The next best thing would have been "Stop running!" but that would have just been dumb.  Every time I see him play part of me wishes that his legs would just fall off, payback for what he did that day in Michigan Stadium.  I've also hated Syracuse ever since that day.

Armanti was Denard before Denard. It wasn't App State who beat us, but him.

Watching the game film, what he did in that game is exactly  what I'd like to see Denard do this year. He made sound passes from the pocket and only took off running when we dropped too far into coverage. He didn't take any massive hits and shied away from contact. It kept him safe,  us honest, and our d coordinator guessing. This allowed him to continue to throw darts from the comfort and safety of the pocket.

He went actually recruited to play WR by most of the SEC but wanted to stay under center. Went on to get drafted in the third round. Hope Denard can have as good of a career if not better.

I did forget about Dixon.  Armanti never happened, so I don't know what the hell that poster is talking about, and I guess I'm too young to know about Rice.  Granted, I know that I'm not a big fan of guys whose middle names are Fucking, i.e. -  Pitch the damn ball Tyler Fucking Ecker!

I don't remember if Rice started in 1987 and can't find the box score, but we lost that game mostly because of seven turnovers and Tim Brown. In 1988, Rice did start but they didn't score an offensive touchdown. They did have a punt return for a touchdown and four field goals and Mike Gilette missed a last-second field goal. In 1989, Raghib Ismail's two kickoff returns for touchdowns killed us, as Tony Rice and the offense only managed 10 points.

But Michigan's struggles with mobile quarterbacks probably forces me to give too much blame on Michigan and not enough credit to said mobile quarterbacks. I mean, sure Juice Williams took us roughly behind the woodshed,.. but against everyone else he was less than fantastic.

I'd forgotten about VY in that Rose Bowl. I'm sure I said "HOLY BALLS WILL SOMEONE PLEASE TACKLE HIM" ten or twelve times.

He has to be the fastest player in all of college football.

Less than a week away, so freaking excited. I took Friday off.

McNabb destroyed UM and Tom Brady in our fist game after the 1997 National Championship. UM then went on to ND and lost to start 1998 0-2. I believe that was the year we rebunede and ended up 10-3 and beat Alabama in the Orange Bowl....

Pat Kratus (DL on the 1998 team) told me that chasing Donovan McNabb was his most helpless feeling ever on a football field.

Also, it was M 45-31 over Arkansas in the Citrus Bowl, not Alabama in the Orange Bowl.

Brady's last game at UM was the 35-34 OT win over Alabama in the Orange Bowl a year later, on Jan 1, 2000.

i was at the Justin Siller game, yeah not so much Justin Siller as a very bad defense. i mean with that train of thought we could add Mcgloin, and numerous other players over the last 3 years. shit lets add that WR from Toledo while we are at it. (his name escapes me at the moment and im waaay to lazy to look him up...wait...Moore?)

...of not understanding how to defend a mobile QB was because we stuck to a power running offense and pro-style drop back passers, and our defense never got experience against someone who could run out of the pocket.

wait...what?!?

Antwaan Randle El was a handful when he was back at Indiana. Also, kind of the opposite style of player tortured us in the Rose Bowl - Mike Williams of USC wasn't terribly nimble - he was just so big and strong that he kept our DBs from the ball with his body, kind of like a collegiate Antonio Gates . . .

"A big question with Robinson is how the new Michigan staff will make use of his talents." - from Rivals.com

I am confident Hoke and company will find places where they can cause "explosions", and out of the smoke and ruin of the opposing D will come one Denard Robinson.
