OT- Former Recruit Anthony Fera of PSU Having His Own Problems

Submitted by Six Zero on

Think Gibbons has had some issues?  Apparently former UM commit Anthony Fera seems to be having some problems of his own and is currently not with the team...

According to a report in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the 20-year-old Fera pleaded guilty to charges of purchasing alcohol by a minor and disorderly conduct on Aug. 4 in State College. The incident occurred June 7. Citing court documents, the Post-Gazette reported that Fera has been involved in two alcohol-related issues since last April.

Not really sure, but the way the story is written, it sound like he's got some real issues beyond a few arrests.  Dependency perhaps?  Not really sure...

I remember this kid REALLY badmouthing us after he switched commitments, but it sounds like he's got bigger fish to fry than dealing with Schadenfreude.  Life can be confusing for these young men, hope he figures it out...

If you're a high-profile student athlete and they're paying for your education, maybe you should have enough common sense/decency to 1) not buy your own 2) lay off the disorderly conduct 3) not mess up repeatedly. That's just dumb, on all three counts.

That is one of the aspects of college football that the players must learn to deal with, I expect that the coaches try to help them understand this. They are in the limelight more than the average student, so any issues they have will get magnified. It is also part of the growing up/maturing process that these kids need to go through. I wish him the best in dealing with the issues.

You know your program is having serious kicking issues when even the kids that decommit are struggling.  Along with Fera, the kid that went to Miami is probably loving his decision right now.

Obviously not good news for the young man. But who are we to cast judgement? I'm sure all of us has drank underrage and been lucky to have not been caught. Granted, he is a student athlete, but don't go saying a kid in college has dependency issues... We have no idea, so there's no need to throw that out there. Good luck to him.

Maybe it is, and maybe it isn't.  But when someone has already been caught once and knows he can jeopardize his scholly by getting caught again, it doesn't bode well when he does just that.

Maybe he should transfer to South Carolina.  He would have a long way to go before breaking Stephen Garcia's unofficial "record."
