OT - Tigers vs. Indians 8/20/11

Submitted by bacon1431 on

Tigers get to a fast start 2-0 after 1.

Would be nice to see Fister get a quality start and win the first two games of this series. Leyland put in his defensive infield for this game - starting Inge and Santiago, but went with a less than stellar defensive outfield (Young and Ordonez).

Its funny either way.  If he is serious, its hilarious that there is an idiot that cares more abou Inge's failure and ripping on Leyland than the Tigs success, if hes not serious its funny b/c hes making fun of said idiot, which we all know do exist.

because betemit has been producing but if inge can hit i dont mind. but just because of tonight i hope leyland doesnt keep him in the lineup everynight for the next 30 if he is struggling. i hope he give betemit the starts against righties because he hits .100 higher against righties than lefties.

As someone exiled in Yankee land, I've been catching up on Tigers baseball thanks to the interwebs.  Progress from MLB.com's Gameday (yes, a poor substitute for HD live) and emotional/humor/bitching support from you guys.

So I've newly discovered this stat that I finally figured out stood for "nasty factor."  Can someone tell me how that's actually figured, or is it just a for-fun judgment?  [They post it more quickly than what kind of "in play" results from a non-strike-ball-out.]  I'd Google, but fear I'll be kidnapped by a NSFA1 website.

Leyland has been the best manager since Sparky for the TIgers, Dombroski is doing a good job, I mean, the Tigers are in the hunt for a playoff spot, they are not in last. I have listened to TIger games for 40yrs, they have a decent team this and have a chance.

are tied at 2 in the 8th. Let's go Rangers. The Tigers could  really open up some breathing room  if they swept this series and Chicago lost theirs.

Edit: 3-2 Sox now.

I'll admit, I was Inge bashing yesterday and he had a good game today but I'll be skeptical for the time being. If he can bat .260+ for the remainder of the season I'll continue that a success (sure beats .177). However we all know hes more than capable of putting up a 1-20 stretch anytime soon, especially with the Inge slappys in Detroit still forgiving.

Id rather be proven wrong and see Detroit in the playoffs so go ahead, whatever it takes!

With this big victory margin, the Tigers' run differential is back to zero for the season.  The rest of the division is in the negatives.
