My top 5 one liner calls in the last 5 years (in no particular order):

  • 2006 ND: "Oh, wide open."
  • 2008 UW: "Minor is Major! Touchdown!"
  • 2009 WMU: "Look at that speed! See ya!"
  • 2010 UConn: "That's six..."
  • 2010 ND: "And off to the races, Denard Robinson!"

I am a little dumbfounded by Denard's high school stat line that popped up during the telecast. If you missed it, here are his career stats (which I assume to be somewhat accurate)

Comp % = 45%

Pass Yds  ~ 5,000 Yds

Pass Tds = 44

Rush Yds ~ 1,100 Yds

Rush Tds = 13

#1 Denard increased his Completion Percentage 17% from high school to a first year starter in college. That is a fairly drastic change.

#2 Did Denard really only have 1100 yards rushing during his h.s. career and over 1500 in one season at UM?

Hope TFA is going well!  I will be in AA for Purdue and Nebraska this year, and I'm looking forward greatly to MGoTailgating.  In the meantime, as of midnight tonight, I have exactly 14 days until I take the MCAT, AKA the #1 determinant of where I will hopefully go to medical school.  My review class is winding down, so most of my time is spent in content review and taking practice exams.  It's grueling and intense, but if I keep stepping my game up, in two weeks I will be past the single biggest obstacle on the trail, and just in time for the season opener!

By the way, points don't expire any more, according to Brian in today's UV.  So, I might just break 20,000 one of these days.  The new moderation system is kind of lame, but it works.

I recommend Princeton over Kaplan for MCAT review.  Kaplan's courses are more math-oriented and not truly representative of typical MCAT questions.  There aren't any calculus-caliber questions on the MCAT, but algebra and variable manipulation are essential skills, especially on Physical Sciences.

If you have a year to prepare, I would start by getting access to a few practice MCAT tests.  Take one cold to get a feel for the test.  There are cheap shots all over the place, and you'll fall into traps.  This is how they design the test, i.e. "How much work does the magnetic force do on charged particles moving through a tube?  Here are some velocities and the intensity of B."  (Answer:  0; Fb is always perpendicular, by definition, to the motion of the particles, and by W = Fdcos(theta), it does no work.  Trick question.)  Check the answers and study your responses to start identifying your strengths and weaknesses.

Pay attention in your remaining pre-requisite classes.  Microbiology is useful, Molecular Genetics even more so.  Biochemistry is worth taking also.  Don't worry about having everything memorized for the MCAT; it's a concept-oriented test, and they usually explain stuff well in a passage.

I am taking the MCAT in less than a week now and I agree.

Another good set of tools is the Examkrackers books, especially the verbal I know is well respected.

I used the Princeton review books as well.

Also, the best practice tests are the AAMC's but I would save most of those until its closer to the actual time.

I froth at the mouth when this topic comes up.  I have more than a few ohio fans in my midst, and they can give it pretty good.  My wife thinks I'm a child because I get so enraged at the current state of affairs with tsio.  I'm begging, God, Jesus, all the saints, Buddha, whoever it takes, to just get this freaking gorilla off our back, and shut these inbreds up.

Total faith in Hoke.  Total faith that justice will return to the galaxy.

That's a long time between now and the OSU game!

Also, for the next time there is a three in the number: Rivals found a gem - Marvin Robinson smiling!

Marvin Robinson is MGoFamous for two things:

1. His OMGhalfshirt picture

2. He never smiles for pictures... ever

Since he wears the number three I was suggesting that the next time that there is a three in the number of days till a game (eg. 23, 34, 3...) that Denarded use this rare picture that rivals found of Marvin Robinson smiling.

Came across this video and I did a search for "Under the Lights" and didn't come across any previous posts on this. I got goosebumps watching this. Can't wait for the season to start. Go Blue!
