I trust the coaches on this one.  I doubt they would dismiss any player, much less one of his caliber at a position of great need, without a thorough investigation and careful consideration.  If the coaches determined that Kellen did something that warranted expulsion from the team, and in the absence of evidence to the contrary, I'm satisfied that he did something wrong.

I confirmed that with his dad today. His dad said as far as he understands he'll be able to play right away, rather than redshirting. He may redshirt anyway because he's a freshman, but they think he'll have instant eligibility.

LOI's don't really mean anything if he didn't enroll. If Michigan won't let him enroll, they essentially void their end of the deal and it's like he never signed it.

Am I the last guy in Washtenaw County to know wtf is going on with this?

He is a transfer, right?   Despite never having gone to a class (or even enrolling) here?  As was the case with Randy Moss and Our Lady College of Northern Indiana?  He's got to sit a year.

I agree...but hope the rumors are wrong, and if they are, wish the kid the best.

Though, I get the feeling Hoke would not have thrown him out if he thought the rumors were not true.  He probably would have been redshirted.  So...make your own conclusions.

Did Kellen's father confirm why he wouldn't be attending U of M?

I have heard the rumors but if they were true Oklahoma would not be taking him.

If they are not true, then he should be in Ann Arbor.

BTW: If Michigan lets him out of his LOI he wouldn't have to sit out a year.   He never enrolled so he is free to play at Oklahoma.

I have no idea what is so "obvious" about any of this.

And it is nice to think that "we have some standards."  I'm sure we do have some standards.  But I'll be darned if I know how Kellen Jones adds to our understanding of what some of Michigan's "standards" are.

I don't like rumors.  Just two days ago, rumors were flashing around about two more Michigan suspensions on the way.  And that seems to have gone nowhere.  That seems to have been a rumor that was properly killed.  I like killing bad rumors as much or more than anybody.  But why can't anybody write anything authoritative about this now?  If there are mere allegations, just write that there are mere allegations.  But beyond any doubt, there have been real consequences to whatever allegations exist.

You must not like the Internet much then. I mean isn't it part of the the point of forums like this to deal in rumors? Of course not every rumor is true but some turn out to be. Obviously there was some truth to the jones rumors or be would be here. Now maybe there is not enough evidence to ever prove what happened but Hoke was likely concerned enough about the mere allegations to part ways.

Of course Sparty did not care when it came to Eric Knott but Sparty is Sparty.

This is the one of the most puzzling situations I have ever seen with a player.  All sorts of rumors about a run in with the law but nothing official to confirm what happened.

I heard about it yesterday, but thought you guys would have already knew this. I was going to start a thread about but just figured you already knew this happened. I did a Google search on the Kellen Jones to transfer to Oklahoma popped up and did not wanna post it twice. Sorry, guys.

I understand why we don't know what happened with Kellen at Michigan, but it's frustrating to see him removed from our team and not told why, and then to quickly be picked up by Oklahoma.

Bye bye Jones, glad your a Sooner. I love that UM stands alone in college football now a days in terms of respect and honor in this win at all cost state of college football. I hope the days of teams like OSU,OU,Florida,Auburn and so on and so on finally ends.

From what I've read/heard he stole a bunch of kittens from a 6-year-old blind girl, threw them in a bag and then lit the bag on fire so the blind girl could smell them burning.

When Michigan heard this they revoked his LOI.

Also, I believe at one point he was a Sith Apprentice.

My source says the girl was "most likely" blind because she was wearing sunglasses even though it was partly cloudy.

Regardless, definitely the kind of kid we don't want getting a college education and/or playing football.

Back to the streets with him I say! Back to the streets!
