On the same night that wide receiver Steve Smith signed with the Eagles, an NFC East rival, a fan tweeted: "Can you say definitively the Giants are better than last year?"

Hanlon's reply: "Can you say we're worse, knucklehead?"

Another fan tweeted: "All teams need to rebuild at one point, I'm not going to panic until the season begins." To which Hanlon says: "Re-build my ass! I got your re-build."

To this tweet from a fan: "Giants off-season can be summed up w/ one word: Debacle," Hanlon responds: "Thanks Lombardi. Cause I know you know."

Another fan said the Giants are worse on paper than they were last year.

"We don't play on paper. You know what you can do w/ that paper?" Hanlon responded.

This is kind of ridiculous.  Can't imagine insulting your own fanbase is going to help you or your team.

Hanlon always had a big mouth. He takes great offense whenever somebody says the Giants aren't dping everything right. Unfortunately as a Giants fan, I agree with the rest of the fans there...absolutely miserable offseason

True, the Giants didn't have a great offseason, but "absolutely miserable"? A draft that got rave reviews, intelligent reworking of the O-Line for the next 2 years at least, keeping Bradshaw, and (what looks like) Osi sucking it up and playing ball. Not sexy, but not a fiasco.

The Eagles are loaded for 2 years to be sure, and the Giants didn't grab a great LB (though Goff, Boley, and Kiwi are good enough). But other than that? Boss got crazy overpaid by Oakland, and Steve Smith won't be the reason Philly wins a SB this year (nor will not having him be the reason we don't). Let's see how many picks Eli throws in 2011 before getting all doom and gloom.

As a Giants fan, I can't say I blame him.  Some of the fans are idiots.   I'm a huge Steve Smith fan, even if he did go to USC but he chased the money and didn't give the giants to counteroffer.  Plus, he won't even be able to play half the season.   Time for Super Mario to step into the spotlight!

Smith was stuck in the 3rd spot anyway, the receiving corps pretty solid and young for them anyway;

Manningham + Nicks = Brett Favre + the kid Real Madrid just signed

but after seeing some of Michigan State's AD's tweets I'm no longer shocked when grown men in "professional positions" act like five year olds on the internet.

I’ve spent a little time in the area, if these are insults I think there a little tame. The joke goes a visiting fan asks “can you give directions to the game, or should I just go fuck myself”.

 Usually I love when a guy who's supposed to be polished and have prepared answers for everything goes off script but this is nuts. He's the VP of Communications.
