OT: USA vs Mexico open thread

Looks like both teams are playing without some key players. Lets go USA! Watching en vivo on Unvision as I don't get ESPN2.

This is a bit off-topic in this thread but my question does not warrant a different thread, I don't think . . .

I'm watching Manchester City v. Manchester United on Fox Soccer Plus channel and am a bit confused as to who I should root for in the game.  But a bigger issue is what club team I should support.  I'm somewhat of a soccer virgin but have been staying up later than usual and watching random games on this Fox Soccer Plus channel.  I think I want to support an English team but I don't even know what league to pay attention to . . . Premier League?

Any suggestions about which team(s) I should be sure to watch would be much appreciated.

The Spartans to Liverpool's Wolverines :)

Don't let that enrage you if you're a true Everton supporter - I follow Liverpool fairly closely, but I'm far from a true diehard at this point.

But I will say this, at the Liverpool blog I go to many of the commenter refer to Everton as 'our wee neighbors.'  Granted, there's a subcurrent of respect behind it that I don't think most Michigan fans extend to Sparty.

depends on what type of soccer you want to see....top of the table you're looking at teams like Chelsea, Man U, Aresenal, and Man City, with Man U being the obvious choice to repeat with their upgrades.  Middle of the table you're looking at Fulham, Everton, Aston Villa, etc.  It all depends on which players you like and what type of soccer you want to see.

if your looking for convenience, then yes. the premier league is the only league with consistant games on US tv.

if you want better quality soccer, watch Germany or Spain.  Bundislega is fun as hell to watch... but for me, there's nothing better than Spanish soccer.  Im a diehard Barcelona fan, but I love Valencia, Villareal, Atletico.  Bilbao is cool too because every one of there players was born and raised in the Basque region of Spain.  and theyre good.

Donovan is clearly better in an attacking midfielder role, but our players need to space themselves better and in passing lanes. Still much better stuff here from our boys.
