Thanks for the heads up.
prediction: there will be pointing.
Thats not a prediction, that's fact!
If a Hoke points in an interview, but it is only a radio interview... what happens?
Its the equivalent of a "wet willie" over the radio
oh wait...
Whatcha gonna do when Hoke points at you?
That's all. just true. I am giddy too.
Isn't he supposed to be at fall camp?
I wonder if he'll say "no question" at all?
I'll set the over/under at 5 uses of "tremendous"
Can anyone give a brief review or some highlights at the conclusion? I am at work and people keep interrupting my ability to listen. Sometimes work gets in the way of Michigan Athletics.
...talking points:
- Hoke on how he feels on this, his first day as Michigan's Head Football Coach (on the practice field) [not exactly accurate formulation by SVP, but you get the point]: Our job is to be accountable to the 132 (134?) preceeding teams.
- Hoke on the defense's progress: Defensive coaching staff is teaching fundamentals, technique and the fanaticism needed to be successful on defense.
- Hoke on recruiting success: It's the University of Michigan. Global education that's second to none. Winningest program in CFB. Facilities that are second to none with tremendous support from MSC and DB, etc.
- Hoke on how soon until Michigan is Michigan: That's the $64K question. Our seniors have taken ownership and the team is prepared to work throughout fall camp so that we're ready for the season.
SVP said it's not unreasonable for Michigan to go 5-0 to start and then the next stretch of 5 games will make or break the season. 4 of 5 on the road, none are easy, none are out of the question. Predicited 7 or 8 wins with the possibility of more if the defense steps up. Talked about the ridiculousness of the 67-65 win over Illinois. SVP's best line: "Hoke is an all cake, no icing kind of guy." referring to the renewed focus on defense.
I love this "play with fanatacism" thing. Obviously all coaches tell their players to play as hard as they possibly can, but fanatacism takes it to a different level. It's like saying, "pretend the guy with the ball just hurt your family. Do what you have to do."
I like it.
Anyone else notice that Hoke says "There's no question" just about as often as he says "tremendous"?
there's no question, that's a tremendous point!
...yourself.
Michigan coach Brady Hoke talks about the Wolverines' need to improve their defense, recruiting, expectations for 2011, his career path and more.
