I firmly believe that prospect rankings have a direct correlation to offers/interest from schools. I.E. The more high profile schools offer a kid, the higher his ranking. Just my observation over the years
They definitely have a direct correlation. Better players get better offers. The best staffs are also considered to be among the best evaluators of talent, so taking their opinion into account only makes sense.

I do believe that it was ESPN that has him at #3 FB in the nation. To my knowledge they did not have him ranked prior to him UM commitment.

If he was from Texas or Florida he would be a 4* automatically...I still dont buy into how they rank these kids.

While it's probably rare to see a 4* FB it's not out of the question. Brandon Minor was seen as a FB by Rivals and a 4*

Scout saw him as a 4* running back, and I remember a lot of discussion about the fact that he probably wasn't really a fullback when he committed to Michigan.

Recruiting a FB is a bit of a crapshoot from a rankings perspective - if the coaches believe in the kid, I don't really care about how the recruiting sites view him.
Of course, if a school like Michigan is willing to offer a guy a scholarship at FB, he must be a reasonably good prospect, so it makes sense that the sites re-evaluate, but it is tough for me to get excited one way or another.

Glad to hear that we've offered a fullback with some solid rankings, I have to agree with Brian, fullback is a waning position in a modern game. But Sione seems like a more versatile FB that would fit into an Al Borges offense.
a guy that can be a lead blocker AND can also catch a ball in the flat, becomes a very effective offensive weapon. The kid looks like an athlete ... trust in the Hoke.

I don't really think true FBs will ever get 4 or 5 stars because if they were that good they would be playing at a more glorified position just based on the decline of the FB in a lot of offenses.
Still though a guy like Kevin Dudley was one of my favorite Michigan players when he was playing. If Sione can bring anything like that to the table with maybe a bit more ability catching the ball I'll be very happy.
Why is it that Lloyd never let that kid score a touchdown?

I would love to have another Askew in the fold. He was a solid player in his days at UM.

Sorry for posting OT on the thread but I can't create my own. Anyway, Rivals is doing a series that looks to be something along the lines of the top 100 high school football teams this year and today featured Colerain as team #15 with Joe Bolden listed as the star of the show.
