I like Devin Gardner too, but can we get an action shot with a football jersey on maybe? Kind of weird having another man with a white b holding money as your pic. Maybe its just me though. And yes i realize i dont have 1 and i dont care.

I'd take Memphis over the alternatives. Memphis tends to have a lot of talent, but is typically very undisciplined. Michigan and Coach B thrive against that type of team. See e.g. Tennessee in last years NCAA tourney.

Full disclosure: Having grown up in Memphis, this is my nightmare scenario since the Tigers are my second favorite team.  With that said, the PG matchup will be interesting.  Memphis PG Joe Jackson struggled most of the season as a freshman, but he started to put it together in March.  If he reverts back to his old habits then Burke should hold his own.

This tournament is such an awesome thing IMO.

Its gives Michigan what is likely to be 3 chances for a quality win, regardless of what they do in each game.

Of course leaving Hawaii 0-3 would be no good at all, but I don't think that'll happen. Almost every scenario I can think of gives Michigan a chance for some fun but winable games that could help our resume in March.

I guess the worst possible scenario would be to lose to Memphis, lose to Tennessee, and then end up playing Chaminade in the 7th / 8th place game.

Other than that, I am very excited for this tournament!

Thursday, November 24th - Packers at Lions

It should also be mentioned that the MHSAA football finals are on the 25th and the 26th.  My Alma Mater, Muskegon, will be a D-2 contender.  It would be great to see them go up against Farmington Hills Harrison, who will be the odds on favorite to repeat as champs.

But, getting by Memphis will be the first order of business.  Geez, what a huge 8 day period for Michigan fans: Nebraska at home on Nov. 19th, the Maui Inv. Nov. 21-23rd, and TSIO comes to AA the 26th.   I'll be so damned hyped up I won't be able to get anything else done - including Thanksgiving!

but a 10am game has to suck to open the tourney. I would think the more prepared/well-coached team would get the advantage in an early morning game.

This looks like a solid bracket.  Memphis will be a good test for Michigan early on.  And Michigan needs it since their non-conference schedule isn't as good as last years.  Hopefully they go deep into this tourney to help their cause in March.  I have a feeling they'll need a good run to boost their RPI.  If they beat Memphis, a second round matchup would be nice since they played both Duke/UT in last years tourney.  I think they would be confident in against either opponent assuming they get past the Tigers.  Go Blue!!!!

Michigan could be a better team than last year and go 0-3.  I'll be happy if they get out with 1-2, and really happy if they can get two wins.
