Scoreboard Cam Back

Big steps since the last update - two new block M's on the bottoms with a clock and playclock. Almost finished it looks like.
By 10 minutes.
Looking incredible. And huge! Can't wait to see the videoboard tests to show stats, and maybe some replays.
And of course, the season opener! Gonna be incredible!
on September 3rd! Looking good, and can't wait to see how the handle the stats and video content. Are the speakers going to be all at the North end?
Go Blue!

They just did some more advanced stuff than the pixels at least. It was just some pattern flowing across the screen.
edit: I guess they don't have cable hooked up yet, gotta adjust the antenna:
I'm also guessing between the two block M's will be another HD message board -- scrolling different things there.

I'm going to guess that the bottom won't be HD, and will instead be a regular LED board. If it's primarily used for stats and scores, I don't think there's any real reason to use extra video processing power on that.

The words "Slippery Rock" will never have looked so good.

Could someone post a screenshot? TIA

so will these test ensure the video board has enough resolution to keep up with Denard going down the sidelne? We may need to upgrade these
Is that the waterfall from Super Mario Bros. 2?

The Michigan Stadium Aerials site has some new photos dated yesterday that show the back of the north scoreboard, including this one:
Here’s a panoramic shot that includes the back of north board and just the very top of the south:

Looking good, I'm glad to see they're progressing through testing colors on the screen to some new stuff.

Crap, double post.

So, who will be the first receiver to blow a play because he wants to watch himself score a touchdown on a giant HD board?
August 4th, 2011 at 10:42 AM ^
I was just thinking I wonder if it will affect the kickers at all? I imagine they will turn it off before the kick but maybe not.
August 4th, 2011 at 11:38 AM ^
We should play some of those trippy images when our opponents attempt PATs/FGs!

"kick here" and an arrow pointing at the goalpost :)

the play clock is on the lower right. What is the lower left 4 digit area for?
Go Blue!

Game Clock?
August 4th, 2011 at 10:49 AM ^
Wow. Well...here's to hoping Indiana Blue was kidding about that question.

Looking good!

Was there in person the other day, You need to be there to really get a sense of how much bigger it really is, i almost cried.

Has anyone else noticed that it looks like some of the panels are upside down or something? When the colors change, instead of moving up, it moves down causing a growing horizontal line for a second. I don't know how to describe it any better than that.
August 4th, 2011 at 11:03 AM ^
I was thinking something similar. About a third of the way up, when a horizontal line moves upwards on the screen, it skips upward a bit before catching up. It's actually sort of annoying and I hope they get it fixed soon.

Did anyone else see the football pic briefly flash on the screen?
August 4th, 2011 at 11:01 AM ^
My favorite part (besides the thought of HD replays) is that the "MICHIGAN STADIUM" lights up. Can't wait to see that during the night game.
August 4th, 2011 at 11:14 AM ^
Is that right around the size of the old video board?
edit: looks like they are slowly scaling up the photo-
August 4th, 2011 at 11:18 AM ^
It might have been about the size of the old score board, but the video board itself was only about a quarter of the score board.
August 4th, 2011 at 11:36 AM ^
is larger than the old screen by almost double.
August 4th, 2011 at 11:06 AM ^
They have actually put up footage! Looks like it's of the ND game last year but it's not scaled to fit the size of the board.
EDIT: See above.
August 4th, 2011 at 11:35 AM ^
Look now... The images that are on the screen now (looks like from the ND or spring game) have been both full screen and partial screen views. I am assuming the partial screen mode is for when stats and such are displayed. Check it out!

EDIT: It's a game vs ND

Wow, even a 4 x 3 feed via a webcam looks awesome. Chills.
August 4th, 2011 at 11:58 AM ^
running full screen game clips now - nice
August 4th, 2011 at 11:59 AM ^
It's not quite full yet.....still that black bar on the right side.
August 4th, 2011 at 12:09 PM ^
Now it is full
August 4th, 2011 at 12:45 PM ^
It went full a few times while I was watching
erection joke?
August 4th, 2011 at 12:02 PM ^
That guy walking around on top has some huge balls.
August 4th, 2011 at 12:12 PM ^
Both of those guys have to be wearing harnesses in order to be up there. It'd be a huge OSHA violation if they are not harnessed in, and UM wouldn't be too happy if they don't have harnesses. UM has instituted some very strict rules regarding construction on campus since there were a few deaths in the past 5 year with construction on campus.
August 4th, 2011 at 12:34 PM ^
Dude is just jaunting around up there in the manner that you or I would stroll down an empty hallway...difference being, he keeps tripping over his enormous sac.
August 4th, 2011 at 12:03 PM ^
The size of the boards fit the stadium perfectly. Good job DB
August 4th, 2011 at 12:10 PM ^
what are the columns going to be on the left and ride side of the screen?
