Michigan Talking with Armani Reeves again

Submitted by Dreisbach1817 on

He's a very good player, but this is puzzling.  Could it be T-Rich is wavering more than we thought?  Any other explanations?  Given our tight numbers, I don't see us wanting to add a 5th DB.

"The Wolverines had three coaches including Brady Hoke talk with Top247 prospect Armani Reeves on Tuesday."

The coaching staff won't tolerate commits taking visits.  Sam said Terry was intent on taking visits, and if he does, the coaches may no longer guarantee his spot.  Terry's curiosity may cost him a spot in this class if he takes visits. His decision tho obviously.

One possibility is that they see Reeves as someone who could play WR. Irish could help me out on this but I believe I've seen in places that ND would try him out at both WR and CB. Most likely though is that the coaches want to continue recruiting DB's in case one of the commits backs out.

My money's on the T-Rich situation but is there any chance this could be an indication of some shifts within the team internally? Some possibilities include:

  • Current or incoming CB that will be switched to another position (S or WR)
  • Current or incoming CB that may not qualify (academics or disciplinary)
  • Current CB that may have suffered a serious injury (knock on wood)
  • Current CB that may transfer or quit football
  • Mattison's plan to deploy the dime package as our base defense in 2012 (jklol)

I also like the best available player explanation. It could simply be the fact that the coaching staff thinks Reeves is a good player and that they'd like to have him on the team regardless of position.
