Tressel the tragic hero
As folks are now aware, The Dean of Discipline referred to Saint Jim Tressel as a "Tragic Hero" at the Big Ten Media Days. Given that the scoreboard webcam cannot capture the back of the board work, it seems there's not much else to ponder today (not expecting BBQ commitments until later in the weekend). So, I thought I'd toss it out for the good people herein to suggest others who fit that label just as well as Tressel.
Some suggestions for parallels to Tres the Tragic Hero:
-Puff the Magic Dragon
-Ron Artest
-Plaxico Burress
-Casey Anthony
-Kwame Kilpatrick
-Rich (just kidding...do you really think I was going there?) -ard Nixon
-Maurice Clarett
-etc.
Oh, football season...please start.
Come on...
So pointless that WTKA did two segments on Dantonio's comments this morning...Next time, I'll toss a cat in the mix. My bad.
So they compared him to Casey Anthony on WTKA?
Yeah dude, that's it...and Puff the Magic Dragon as well. In the land of stupid gifs and pictures of cats, maybe you should complain to someone else about a thread you don't like but continue to post in.
I'll stick with this one because it's that bad. I know you're desperately trying to defend your post and moderating my posts as trolling.. blah blah. But come on man.
Nothing better to do, eh? Actually, I'm not the only one negging you (as you've hit the minus territory). Of course, this thread is so "bad" that it has more comments than most threads lately and even gave birth to another thread further discussing the Dantonio comments.
If you don't like it...move along...you can talk about Nintendo games, the US Mens soccer team or even the Bar exam. You get hit with "trolling" because that's exactly what you're doing.
This post is that distasteful. The fact that you would add these kinds of names to a list based on a stupid quote is a slap in the face to all Michigan students and alums. It is shameful, callous and stupid.
Again?
You're still here? You're now 4 posts in (beginning by calling my OP "pointless") and now my it's graduated to "shameful, callous an stupid" and "a slap in the face to all Michigan students and alums"? You need help.
In other news, I was buying a sandwich at work and I told them I wanted turkey. They asked me if I wanted Oven Roasted, Honey Roasted, or Smoked. I was baffled that so many choices of turkey existed, because I just wanted turkey. So I decided on Oven Roasted, and it was quite delicious.
Is another type of turkey better?
Boar's Head Cracked Peppermill.
Trust me, I work in a deli.
This post left me feeling gross. What would make you think that posting something like this was funny, clever, or even remotely acceptable?
and reminded me of a funny joke:
Three immigrants were looking for work at a construction site (an englishman, a scot and a chinese man). The foreman called them over and told them if they wanted a days work he would pay two of them to move a massive pile of gravel from one end of the yard to the other and the third to get the supplies for moving the gravel.
He told the englishman he was to do the shovelling, the scot was in charge of the wheelbarrow and the man from China was to go get the supplies so the other two could start working and once he had the supplies he could spell the other two if needed.
The foreman came back to the site four hours later to see how the work was progressing. When he arrived, he saw the pile of gravel hadn't been touched and the englishman and scot were standing by the pile talking.
He approached the two and asked what the hell was going on and why they weren't working. They responded,"Well we came over here to wait for the supplies you asked for but haven't seen the chinese man since you left."
Pissed off, the foreman went on a hunt for the chinese man to see what the holdup was. He searched the entire yard and couldn't find him. As he walked past the gravel pile on his way back to the other two workers, the chinese man jumped out from behind the gravel pile waving his arms in the air and shouted "supplies!".
This joke is better when you can tell in person with accents.
The "up next" video is appropriate for the B1G too.
Jim Bakker. The holier than thou, I'll save us all evangelist who preached about a life of morality and integrity......that turned out to be less than so. Sounds familiar.......and same first name.
We could start a separate site just by listing hypocritical televangelists: MGoPrayingForDollars
Cool Story Bro
That was so funny I almost tress'd my pants.
Jalen Rose.
He loves OSU more than his own school. Hell, he even hates UM more than he loves his own school which is perfect for Sparty.
"Tragic heros have a way to rise above it in the end and that's what I will look for in the end."
So the Vest is going to turn all state's evidence or something with the NCAA, umm, doubt it. Don't worry Mark, keep emulating your hero and hiding things from compliance. Make sure that electronic paper trail ends up right on your desk. You can be tragic just like Jim. Since he has all this free time on his hands and potentially a show-clause coming from the NCAA to limit his future hiring, maybe he can move up to Lansing to read you books before tucking you into bed at night.
If I was Sparty I'd be worried about this delusioned admiration. Dantonio sounds like he would be fine having (as Dantonion called it) "positive" impacts on all his players, to the point where he would forfeit seasons. Either that or he would jump to tsio if they ever showed the slightest bit of interest.
Show that fucking clause.
DERP
Terrelle Pryor?
Because it's all sarcastic. Dantonio calling Tressel a "tragic hero" being the initial WTF moment.
Has anybody received season tickets in the mail today?
No, I was sad panda :(
Dantonio's response after being read Brandstatter's twitter reply:
"I don't even know who that guy is," he said. "As far as I'm concerned, he's never coached one day of college football or had a relationship with college players, a real meaningful relationship.
How can you not know who someone is and then go into detail about how he's never coached or had a meaningful relationship with a player? C'mon Mark, if you're going to lie, at least keep on message for the rest of your quote.
What is this Brandstatter's tweet you speak of?
...Elmer didn't include Brandstatter's comments in his post.
reading comprehension isn't for everyone.
....comments, Jim Brandstatter had this to say on Twitter (as reported by Matt Charboneau of the DetNews):
"When is lying to your boss, to the NCAA heroic," he wrote. "Is it heroic to teach young men that wrong isn't wrong unless you get caught? Gimme a break."
Dantonio was asked about it Friday morning and here's the exchange:
"Who? What did he say?" Dantonio asked.
After hearing what was written, Dantonio was quick to dismiss Brandstatter.
"I don't even know who that guy is," he said. "As far as I'm concerned, he's never coached one day of college football or had a relationship with college players, a real meaningful relationship.
"But I know I'm going to be criticized. I figured I would be, but that's OK. It wouldn't be the first time."
What...an...asshat.
[Elmer beat me to it. Dantonio is still an asshat.]
"I don't even know who that guy is"...but rather than address the point raised, I'll make a couple of assumptions about the guy I just said I don't know.
I'm sure he didn't have any meaningful relationships from 1969-1972 when he was, you know, a college football player. Hey coach D, Brandstatter played in 2 rose bowls in 4 years. How many have you coached in?
I'm sure he also didn't have a meaningful relationship with either his older brother who was, you know, a defensive end for the Spartans from '59-'61, or his father who was, you know, an All-American fullback at Michigan State in 1936.
Honestly, nothing would make me happier. It would be an asshat combination of school and coach, and it would make Sparty mad and send them back to the depths of minimal to no success.
This guy is who I think of when I think of Tressel these days. The distinctly American sociopath who can preach moral values while throughly corrupting himself in pursuit of money (or in Tressel's case wins), even when it leaves the people and places around him hopelessly broken.
So, yeah, totally a tragic hero, right?
Glenn Winston, Brian Linthecum, Max Bullough, the Fightin' Fifteen...
is a D-bag.
Enough said...

Your hatred for me is made even more funny by the quality of your posts. This is top drawer shit right here.
I can't wait till Brady's finger shatters the glass jaw of Douchetonio!
You have to acknowledge the guy's had some success, but what a sanctimonious, grey-suit douchebag. Then again, he always looks like he's got a hard-boiled egg stuck in his throat.
Hey Mark, most smart people think Tressel f*cked up and say nothing. But you call him a "hero" at Media Day. Well played.
There's a "Real American Hero" in there somewhere. Lookin at you Budweiser.
