So I can get some darn line spacing, but then have to open up Safari it edit it. ;-) And you shouldn't change your subject line to make it shorter without proofreading it before you hit save.

I remember hearing about the Bartman film, and I was wondering when they were going to show it. The Auburn/Bama rivalry should be 3rd in line for a 30 for 30 as far as college football rivalries go.

Morgan Spurlock and two sports agents? That sounds like it will be the best work by far. I could see the Wepner story being a tear-jerker, but the last time I saw him on TV, he was still one tough SOB. As for Bartman, I just don't know how sympathetic a figure he can be.

I haven't been a big fan of Spurlock's work.

And how can Bartman NOT be sympathetic? People went insane over nothing. People forget the Cubs had every chance to win anyway, and just got beat. It wasn't the bottom of the 9th of the World Series. And even if it was, it all had a Buckeye vibe to it.

3 times a day? I mean, when I ate at Burger King twice a week to get Star Wars Happy Meal toys I felt like crap. I could have made the movie. But it doesn't mean they were trying to poison me. Eat anything that continously and it won't be so hot for you.
And sadly, that might be his best movie.

I agree with everything you've posted on the film, but I think it was meant as more of a direct attack on eating habits than the industry. But a take either way is a personal choice and involves all sorts of other influences.

Did you see any of Spurlock's "30 Days" series? I watched several and enjoyed them; that is, while I didn't always agree with the conclusions, I found them intellectually stimulating and sometimes quite entertaining.

I liked the job HBO did on The Game. Although, it's possible that my opinion on the film is biased because I'd only watch it around when The Game was gonna be played, so the my opinion of the film may have been affected by my excitement and anticipation for the game.

At the Michigan Theater when they premiered it the general consensus from VIPs on down (me included) was that it slanted OSU's way. OSU fans love it. Michigan coming back and winning a national championship is barely a footnote, while Tressel repairing OSU from the Cooper years is one of the bigger segments.

Probably doing the Alabama/Auburn one now becuase the craziness is at it's peak there right now. Between tree poisoning, back to back national championships and Heismans. Also add in the SEC bias and makes sense. I would love to see a doc on small school rivalries with Central/Western being one of main features of course

1) The Bills losing 4 in a row

2) The Dan Jansen story

3) Dan & Dave (maybe too much olympics?)

4) Jeffrey Maier

5) the 1991 NLCS - Francisco Cabrera's hit and how it changed baseball in the 90s (great one)

I'm realizing all of my sports memories are from the early 1990s.

Bills and Dan & Dave are great picks. Would love to see those as well as one on Armando Gallaraga/Jim Joyce.

Don't like the Jeffrey Maier pick. If that kid is a Twins fan in Minnesota, nobody even remembers his name. Like so much in baseball coverage at the WWL, his legend is born out of East Coast bias.

I don't like the Gallaraga / Joyce idea. There's already been enough coverage and I sill hate that Joyce gets glorified for making the wrong call. Yes, he apologized, but he was still wrong. Even worse, Selig was too stubborn to give Gallaraga what he deserved. This would be a good documentary to make in twenty years, not now.

Given that Simmons' most inspired writing lately has been about pro wrestling, I'm a little surprised there isn't a doc about something there.

The Bartmann episode is bound to annoy those of us who know how completely overrated his "impact" was on that game/series. He's the result of curse-obsessed lore mongers in baseball who love to spin yarns about why a franchise like the Cubs have horrible luck.

It's definitive, and excellent. Nothing more needs to be said on it than this...it's perfect. They also have a great one about the US-USSR basketball game, and how we've still never accepted the silver medals.

Look, just because there's a rumor that Craig James killed five hookers while at SMU does not mean in any way that Craig James killed five hookers while at SMU. While one cannot disprove that Craig James killed five hookers while at SMU, basic logic tells us that this does not imply that Craig James killed five hookers while at SMU. I really think you ought to cool it with saying that Craig James killed five hookers while at SMU; otherwise, what will happen when his grandchildren do a Google search and receive the suggestion "Craig James killed five hookers while at SMU?"

I still believe there needs to be a 30 on 30 about Bo's death before the '06 OSU game and what happened afterwards with the discussion of who should play for the national championship. It celebrates a known sports figure, a big time rivalry and what was a pretty heated discussion in the runup to the selection of the national title game contenders.

at this point, but I'll give them a look. Because aside from the Fab Five documentary (for obvious reasons) I found the stories I really didn't know anything about to be some of the most interesting. Like the one on Marcus Dupree or the NASCAR guy that died of AIDS.

The Two Escobars was my favorite though.

I'm excited to see a 30 for 30 on the Iron Bowl. I've been to a few games in Tuscaloosa and they're a different breed. That's not to say that Michigan fans aren't passionate, but a story on Bama/Auburn fans could be much more entertaining (assuming it focuses on the fans). Just read "Rammer Hammer Yellow Jammer."
