TomVH: One More Visitor for the BBQ

Submitted by TomVH on

I spoke with 2013 ATH Dymonte Thomas tonight and he told me that his father is now able to go to the BBQ at Michigan on Sunday so they will be attending.

Dymonte told me that Michigan is number one for him, and he also happens to be Bri'onte Dunn's cousin.

I wanted to post this in the comments because it's separate from the OP, but I do think there's potential for this weekend to get interesting. By separate I mean I'm not implying anything just about Dymonte.

And awesome! Maybe him being so high on Michigan and him being there together with his cousin will help his cousin make his choice.

We're recruiting Dymonte to play safety, so there wont be a conflict.  I wouldn't doubt if Dymonte ends up playing two ways.  This is huge for us and Dunn, the apparently light sanctions will make it harder for us to sway him but I still feel good about our chances.

"you wouldn't doubt if dymonte ends up playing two ways."

not to squash the optimism here because he looks like a great talent but there's regular college footballers and theres sir charles woodson...

I am not too familiar with the 2013 class, but would I be in the correct ballpark by saying Morris top 25, Thomas 50-100 and Elmer 50-100?

Shane Morris has been to a ton of camps and out performed top kids in the 2012 class.  If he doesn't improve at all he is a top 150 type kid.  Beyond that it's just too early, you are talking about kids who probably have played one year on varsity.  Greg Brown was the next Charles Woodson when he was a soph, Marvin Robinson was Ronnie Lott.

Go take a look at the roster and look at the TE's.  He just doesn't belong there.  Huge differences between him and the others when it comes to size. He's got the frame of a receiver.  I have high hopes for the kid if they move him back to where he belongs.

I also heard his speed was an issue at receiver.

Why were you worried?  I felt like it was Dunn or none situation for us since Garmon dropped us.  If things don't go our way with Dunn, the UNC situation can help us get back in it with Garmon.  Also the coaches were impressed with Juwan Lewis from Muskegon.  He will probably not get an offer until the coaches see how he does his senior year.  There are other options available and the coaches are recruiting incase things don't work out.
