based on this image..

and the press release, which says the actual screens will be 47 feet high and 85 feet wide, i'm assuming what we see now is the (almost) complete screen size. If you count the levels of the frame, the current screen is almost exactly 4 stories, which aligns pretty well with the 47'.

Interesting question. I had been thinking that the video screen would cover the entire area of the scoreboard frame, but if you look at the original rendering of the new scoreboards (below), there’s a border all the way around. It seems like they have just three more sections to go, and the video screen portion of the scoreboard will be complete.

Fair point.  I haven't seen them in person yet but if the guess is correct that the sides and top will be "paneling" of sorts (or maybe that will be audio housing), then the screen size might be smaller than earlier thought.  In any event, can't wait to see them...or, better yet...can't wait for the season to start!

Comparing to the bottom part of the Yost board (rendering v actual), it seems like that bottom panel might be an attachment to the board which is also a "video screen"...so they could change wacky things like the "Michigan" line-M and "Go Wolverines".

We should start small and just hope it isn't used as a scroll for the lyrics to "Who Let the Dawgs Out" or "Sweet Caroline".

Anyway, here's the Yost board before it was raised:

...and then after it was raised, they added the ring to the bottom.  Seems like that is what might be coming in the football situation as well.

Now they just need a couple line pieces to fill out the sides. I hope the god Tetrices shines down on them.

Wait, don't complete the lines! Our scoreboard will disappear! /masspanic

If the real cost of the scoreboard were calculated, particularly the lost hours from us lost souls who sit at our desks watching the thing go up, it would be staggering.

But Damn you know it's a slow week in July when we're jonesing for panels going up on a board.
