RJS no longer taking visits elsewhere
Pretty sure this hasn't made it to the site yet. It wasn't that big of a deal but it is never a good thing when your prospects are visiting elsewhere. He has since decided that he won't be visiting anywhere else, and is solid with the Wolverines. Not a huge deal, just something to make everything feel warm and fuzzy on friday night.

An official visit is a lot more than a free trip - it's giving another coaching staff an opportunity to give you the hard sell.
It's like going on one of those free trips run by a time share place. Enjoy three days in Hawaii on us! Spend just six hours a day locked in a conference room with our sales team!
TomVH retweeted him on this as well: Royce Jenkins-Stone -> RT @Mr2012RJS no visits 4 me . i will wait till i get to AA to get wined n dined =DD
I wonder if t-rich is also saying the same thing or if he still plans on going ...

It's Friday, Friday...
Drinking time. YES!
These type of visits aren't viewed fondly by the coaching staff. They won't happen if they're still committed. That goes for anyone, not just these two.
Also, I'll go ahead and answer the next question that's about to come. No, I didn't mean anything by saying if they're still committed, nothing to worry about as of now.
So Tom does that mean if T-Rich visits elsewhere he has effectively decommited?
I take it this means Michigan is taking the Oregon approach and not honoring a commitment if a visit is taken elsewhere. Seems to be a high risk strategy if Richardson, Ross, and RJS are good friends and feel like one got treated poorly.
No, and I hope nobody takes it that way or says that I'm saying that. I'm saying the coaches don't want them to take visits.
I'm completely in favor of the coaches treating a commit taking other visits as a decommit. If a commit thinks they need to cover their back, we need to be able to do the same. It's not fair to the team to hold your spot in the class while at the same time exploring other options. I don't buy the "I just want a free trip" argument any more than my wife believes the "it didn't mean anything, I swear" argument from me.
Now, if a recruit is a big enough target, it might behoove the staff to hold his spot even if he does take other visits, but if a recruit takes officials and the coaches find a guy they like just as much to take his spot, I won't feel bad for anyone.
Agreed. I also liked that you used the word "behoove". I bet your a classy guy.
I do my best.
It may behoove you to stay clear of the LA roadways this weekend...
Yeah, we actually have one of my wife's coworkers (not a coworker of one of my wives) staying with us this weekend because it will be too hard for her to go anywhere. They were selling $4 flights from Burbank to Long Beach on JetBlue. It's pretty nuts. Starts in an hour.
When does it end. I am going to LA and Vegas tomorrow
It ends late Sunday night, like midnight or something like that - it goes all weekend. Not a good time to come to LA, traffic will be hellish, more hellish than normal, if that's possible. They'be shut down the busiest freeway in the US - one of the major arteries of the city and the main way to get from the Valley down to LA. Where in LA are you going?
Thanks. I will be in Vegas until Thursday and then LA afterwards for a couple of days. I will be in Malibu and the coast.
and we're in a good position to take that stance. We could easily get more quality commits than we have scholies this year, so there's no reason to hold anyone's spot open. The message needs to be: Don't commit to Michigan unless you're serious and certain. Because if you're not, there are a lot of other guys who will be happy to slide in.
Thanks for the clarification.
Or continues to take visits I think the coaches will go after Yuri Wright harder. And yes we are still recruiting him and he's still considering us.
Would Leviticus Payne be considered a backup or would they just move up Jeremy Clark?
Be a last resort. We don't really need 4 dbs in this class so I wouldn't see him getting an offer. I'm not so sure about Jeremy Clark getting the last spot.
Chet, tell me how I should feel now!

This could have potentially been a big deal. All it takes is for a nick saban or lane kiffin to get into a recruits head and make him think otherwise of Michigan. I am very excited to see that Royce is not taking visits it will be fun to watch the #1 player in michigan knock heads off in a few years.
I'm getting to like this Brady Hoke; he runs a tight ship.
Pretty sure this has more to do with Coach Wilcher than Coach Hoke. RJS talked to him and changed his mind right after
I like this strategy. If you want to visit somewhere, that's fine but then we will recruit someone else. Is it risky? Somewhat, but not when we are in the position we are in.
Say you ask a girl to marry you and you give her an engagement ring. She accepts, gives you a big sloppy kiss, and wears the ring. Then three weeks later she says she wants to date some other guys. Are you honestly going to regard her commitment to you as very solid? Only a fool would do that.
There's nothing at all wrong with any recruit wanting to check out as many schools as possible, whether they're really interested in the schools, or if they just want to check out some area of the country they're not likely to see otherwise. However, if they're not ready to end their review process, then they shouldn't commit.
I guess a coaching staff could approach this kind of situation on a case-by-case basis; maybe it makes sense to give some kids more leeway than others. If Hoke's stance is that they don't want to see any commits taking officials to other schools and will take some sort of action if they do, that's fine by me.
what the Michigan staff's policy will be on taking visits from players who have committed elsewhere. Will they refuse to take visits unless a player is officially decommitted from another school, especially one that has the same policy as Michigan's?
is nice to hear, now talk to T-Rich for us RJS and get him on board. GO BLUE!!!
