OT: Saturday Night Open Thread

Submitted by justingoblue on

So it's Saturday at 11:30 and there isn't a drinking thread. I don't know if this is because nobody is interested, or just that nobody started it; either way, it's here. Also, I wouldn't mind hearing everyones best excuse for not creating one yesterday (it's a holiday weekend people, come on). Mine- my dog ate my computer.

Anyway, I'm at the girlfriends family place drinking crappy beer and listening to good music. Her friend is itching to go out and do the same somewhere else, but f that, I like it here better.

Watched a movie, had a few cocktails, checked out the board, read the Pipkins update, immediately began wondering what a defensive line with Pipkins and Shittu would be like in a years.

To the OP:  Sounds like another Saturday night in college.  Enjoy these times, they won't last forever.

I got some things done today, but I have a ton more to do tomorrow.  I'm getting better at StarCraft, so yay for mastering 14-year-old video games that also happen to be the national sport of South Korea.  Anyways, I'm glad we're having a nighttime Open MGoThread again.  It was a bit of a tradition in the last year of the RR era to get together for epic late-night posbanging and frenzied discussion to take our minds off things.

Just like everyone else who gets on this topic, a toast for jhackney.  [pours a little scotch on the floor]

I gotta work tomorrow so I'm taking it easy, had 5 beers and watched arrested development on Netflix with my little brother. Not a bad way to spend on evening.

Only in baseball can you be entertained by a 15-2 blowout.

Don Kelley catching... Random Giants pitcher cutting off of throw from third, Rod and Mario dodging foul balls...

This may not be as entertaining if I wasn't several beers in and currently enjoying a very tall coke and rum.

It was 118 (literally!) in Phoenix today, up in the in mountains to get away from the heat. Currently at the Hotel Monte Vista, drinking a dry vodka martini. The altitude works wonders on your alcohol tolerance...,,,,!

I used to always use the July 4th weekend as a homebrew checkpoint.  Either brewed or unveiled, homebrews were an integral part of the weekend.  Several years ago, we had some  friends over and compared my blueberry ale with 2 other microbrew equivalents in a blind taste test.  Mine was gloriously dominant.

We have a 2.7 year old.  Although I do prefer playing Barbie and Zombie Archeologist (an invented game) to homebrewing, I wish there was time for both.
