TomVH: Quick Update

Submitted by TomVH on

Just wanted to give a quick update, I had a long day today so I wanted to at least post something.

I spoke with Ohio RB/FB Alden Hill today and I'm not so sure that Michigan has a great shot with Alden. They're in his top five, but he has other schools ahead of him. He's likely going to make a decision before the end of summer so the coaches would probably need to try to get him back on campus to gain some ground. I don't know how likely that would be.

If he does decide to go elsewhere I would imagine the coaching staff would try to find another prospect. Either new offers or going after EJ Fatu (who is very high on Michigan) or Sione Houma, who still maintains that Michigan has a chance. This might end up being a position that they will have to wait to fill, or they might put out some new offers to gain a commitment.

I have heard also that Dunn is a longshot for us.  Not saying we have no shot at all, but the chances of us landing him aren't as high as most of us thought.  The word is he had a birthday party over the weekend and had a Ohio State decorated cake.  Seems like he might be staying put.

I don't know what to say, except that perhaps he's obtained a car and tatoo that makes him look favorable to the ladies?   I have a hard time believing we don't have a realistic shot, given the comments from family.   On the other hand, perhaps, he's looking for a painting job in the offseason?

Awesome update Tom! Thanks as always.

I hope we can land a big player here but I think Morris will be bringing in some studs with him in 2013.

He's alright, thanks. He got roughed up pretty bad by the rottweiler. He got thrown in the air and bit on the neck a few times, but he just has some bruising and deep puncture wounds. He's doped up on morphine right now, so he has no clue what's going on.

Was going to txt you to wish him the best, but then saw the avalanche on your twitter account and decided to hold off.

Dogs are just like kids, except not as sneaky.  And not as smart.  And smarter.

At any rate, glad to hear he's okay, and hope you can now relax.  Dog Zero is sitting right next to me as I post this, and if he was attacked I'd be plenty rattled long after it's over.

Hey TVH and DogVH I've got Dogbastard, more affectionately known as Woodson by my side.  I'm with zero on the effect of a rotweiler encounter.  Tell DogVH to hang in there, and just be glad he's not a kid, or she'd wake up crying and whining.  In your case, you might hear a whimper or two, but ol' DogVH will probably try to hide anything bothering him anyway.

I wouldn't get too excited about Norfleet. He already has a top 3 (I know MSU is one, I'm not too sure of the others) and I would assume that the new staff wants big backs like Dunn or Rawls instead of 5'7 speedsters. He's an elusive little guy, but I don't think he'll be getting an offer. Just doesn't go with our new offense.

I would prefer to take 2 receivers if we can't get Dunn but Hill could fill 2 positions, so he would be a nice pick up. The only other puzzling question in this years recruiting class is QB or not to QB. If so who is the most likely? I can't see Mauk or Kiel being the one unless they visit again. Personally I would like to get Fuller?, I believe he is labled as an athlete, but plays QB.

Hope your dogs doing better Tom. And is there any word on Dennis Norfleet? He seems like a pretty impressive RB and i even heard won co-MVP with Shane Morris at the recent tournament. Also do you have a highlight tape of EJ?
