Freshmen jersey numbers potentially unveiled
For those of you who don't read TTB regularly, Magnus found these on the rivals board the other day. It's a slow Monday so I thought I'd post these. (As it was eloquently put last summer) For those of you with visions of this class dominating the B1G en route to a Conference Championship dancing in your head, may your daydreams reflect (allegedly) accurate uniform numerals.

I don't know why, but Blake Countess fits that #18 perfectly. Greg Brown at #35 seems like a nice fit as well.
I was actually going to say the same with about Morgan. He always seemed like a 44
for the haters.
I guess this means Clark is going to play LB instead of TE
I was gonna say just the opposite about Rawls -- I can't think of any stud running backs who have worn #38 (feel free to correct me, please).
Well, there is a first for everything.
I am so excited for football! GO BLUE!
Touche. Rawls = trailblazer.
Jack Miller, duh. #2 as a C.
So #21 is being given out. I'm curious to know what, if anything, this means about Desmond's ceremony on Sept. 10.
I just had the same thought. It seem odd that they would give it out, just to have to turn around and take it away two games into the season.
DB mentions something about that whole thing at 13:45 during the jersey ceremony
Can someone tell me how to embed?

I don't remember who it was, but someone with some clout said something about retiring jersey numbers in the future. They said it would be tough to continue retiring numbers at Michigan because with 110-ish players on the roster, numbers start to get limited.
I'm not saying that Desmond isn't worthy of having his jersey retired, but at some point, it becomes unrealistic to keep retiring jerseys.
Lloyd Carr himself has talked about there being a "backlog" of jerseys that should be retired. It's unclear if we will actually go through with it or not, though. I agree that we can't take too many numbers out of circulation.
Teams these days "retire the jersey" without actually "retiring the number." Somehow, that's a distinction. I suspect that's what'll happen here.
That's a good way of doing it. Honor them in some other way, like a bronze statue or maybe a wall of fame someplace at the Big House.

If we go down that road, let's make sure we don't hire the same people that did that for Texas:
XXI and keep 21?
I'd say or vice versa, except that the latter format is probably more legible on the playing field, especially when you get up into the linemen.
I think it was during the jersey ceremony
Is he not 21?
I was starting to think i wasted money on a #5 jersey after what happened, but I can now wear it again!
I assumed Frank Clark was going to pick 99, because of the comparisons and his friendship with Pierre Woods. Looks like Frank decided to blaze his own trail, good for him.
99 just opened up this year with Patterson moving on. A lot of the other new guys took numbers recently vacated by guys from the same position group: Countess/Rogers, Carter/Vinopal, Hollowell/Christian, Morgan/Moundros, Heitzman/Banks, Rock/Sagesse. I'll have to get used to a kicker wearing David Harris' (and Ezeh's for that matter) number, though.
If that's the average distance of his field goals made, I'll be happy.
In the Hoke/Borges offensive plan, we kick 0 field goals because we will score touchdowns every time the offense takes the field. MANBALL
TOO SOON EVEN FOR THE JOKE TELLER.
Hayes = Bush, so I hope. Well on the field, minus the scandels.
oh i love that Rawls' #38 - reminds me of a big bruising back like the A Train
Something about a power back and a number in the 30s just go together
I am picking up my Hayes jersey this week!

<br>It's cool that he and I share a last name, and we went to the same high school! I couldn't resist buying a customized jersey!
for FGs this year.
I really like the sound of that.
He is not guilty of redundancy, but rather of simultaneous similarity. He and I posted the similar comments at exactly the same time [June 27th, 2011 at 4:16 PM].
EDIT: This may not make sense now that I moderated him up to Normal.
#52 for Mattison w/ Ravens - - Ray Lewis
#52 for Mattison w/ Michigan - - Kellen Jones
He's gonna be a good one.
With your reasoning
Justice has been returned to the offensive number five.
Thats a badass locker....looks like he has avery and furman/stokes as neighbors.
Hayes is perfect in that #5.
Thanks for stealing me comment and making it a thread.
I thought Countess would be wearing 2. Damn. Hopefully someone takes 2 because both my home and road authentic jerseys I wear for games are 2's.
What does it matter?
You could just say you're honoring Charles Woodson.

Because they were not smart enough to pick OSU...we will crusk you for the next decade...
