WTKA Podcast Question

Submitted by umhero on

I have been trying for days to get the WTKA website to work for me.  Each time I visit, the site locks up and a window pops up telling me that a script on this movie is causing Adobe Flash Player to run slowly.

I've tried Chrome, Firefox, and Internet Explorer, all with the same results.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

Voting "yes" to abort the Flash script also seems to really abort it.  It's been happening to me since the 2011 Women's Football Academy video appeared.  I haven't taken the time to report it to them, so I guess I'm destined to suffer until they remove the video.

That's what I do, but you may not be free at that time.  I've never listend to one of the podcasts, but I know you're not the only having trouble.  I thought they fixed it recently though?

Even though I don't listen, I always link to the podcasts when I summarize anything Sam and Ira talked about, which: http://www.wtka.com/pages/9395307.php

He said this morning that he doubts Kallis or Wormley commits this weekend, but that we're in strong position for both.

Do you have the latest updates for Adobe Flash Player?  Some days the podcasts are down, but lately I have been getting them OK.  Good luck.

From what I've seen (I use Chrome) podcasts are occasionally missing from the podcast page on WTKA.  They've been working fine (for me) the last couple of days though.

Does anyone know how I can download directly from WTKA's site and get the oodcast into itunes (so I can then transfer it to my ipod)?

Sorry for the lameness and TIA.

I finally figured this out last night.

Step 1.  Download the free App "RSS Radio"

Step 2.  Click the "+" button to add a subscription

Step 3.  Click the "Enter URL manually" button

Step 4.  type in:  http://wtka.podhoster.com/rss/3088/

Step 5.  click "Go"

Step 6. Click "Subscribe"

The App will find the server where the podcasts are located and generate a list.  You can download them from there.  There are several settings that allow you to customize how you pull your podcasts.

Enjoy!

The new podcast thing is a piece of shit. I wish they would have left it alone, the pull down thing was great and you could go back and listen to old ones.

Also WTKA isn't on iTunes anymore which is a load of shit as well.

I live in southern Indiana, and I listen to the podcast (well, mostly) every morning, on the website. I always wait for 9 am our time...10 am in MI, for the show to get over and then I check the website. I'd say it actually works about 3 of the 5 workdays out of the week. Most the time it wont even load. It ruins my morning. Whatever they use on that web site sucks ass and is hardly consistent. C'mon Sam. Change the damn thing. I wanna hear the recruiting round up, but I can't do that if your web player is going all Ohio State Compliance Department on me...

1. Soap Box: Another example of fixing what ain't broke.

2.  I wouldn't blame Sam.  Ira is the one responsible for the podcast downloads (Sam's traditional comment after the Recruiting Update [paraphrased]: "...usually up before the end of the show"), but I suspect corporate higher-ups are responsible for the decision to "upgrade."  It does seem to be a now-and-then mess-up, so they're probably working out the kinks.

I, too, much preferred the previous format, as well as the operation.  The previous menu was more complete, both in identifying who/what's on each segment and in differentiating one show from another [now there are merely double-digit vs. single-digit listings].  One possible improvement might be the continuous play, if it didn't continuously play the show backwards.

I've been a long-time WTKA / Michigan Insider listener.   As I now live out-of-state and can rarely listen in real time, I have relied heavily on the podcasts and religiously downloaded from iTunes on a daily basis.

That was until WTKA's web site was revamped for "improvements."   If I'm honest, I think some things have gone downhill since.   The Flash player, as pointed out by many, is...erm...not so good.   More disappointing, I can no longer find the WTKA podcasts on iTunes.

Saw Ira across the room at the recent Michigan Coaches event in DC.   I was going to ask him about this but couldn't quite reach him before he disappeared.   Since then, I have sent an e-mail to the station's contact e-mail address, but have received no response as of today.

Sam or Ira: If you're reading this, can you please try to fix this?  Would love to get the podcasts back on iTunes or available somehow for those of us who listen to them on our iPhones, iPads, and/or other devices.   You guys provide a valuable service for the Michigan fanbase and, like this blog, help keep us interested and enthused about all things Michigan even during the dog days of summer.   Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

BTW, I have downloaded an Internet radio app which I use to tune in occasionally.   While it's convenient at times, it doesn't provide the asynchronous access I enjoyed when the podcasts were available in iTunes.   If any MGoBloggers have found a good solution in the absence of the podcasts on iTunes, please share the info.

I dont know if this will help anybody but the "google listen" app works (at least on android) with WTKA podcasts just fine these days.  Sometimes certain parts of the show are missing, but most of the stuff makes it up there.  If anyone needs help just post here, and I can walk you through how to set it up.

Hello,

For months, I have been unable to find any podcasts of WTKA on iTunes. I have finally gotten this working. When you Search for WTKA on iTunes, you will find "WTKA Podcasts" and there are no entries for this podcast. This used to be the right place to find the podcasts.

To solve this problem, you do the following:

1. Select "Advanced" on top bar in iTunes

2. Select "Subscribe to Podcast...".

3. In the window requesting a URL, you put the following: http://wtka.podhoster.com/rss/3088

4. Hit OK.

This will create a podcast section for you called "WTKA" and it will have all of the podcasts. This is how to get this working in iTunes which is how I prefer to do it.
