Hopefully no one gets picked off third tonight.
be dumb enough to let that happen to him. But I don't think we have to worry about it happening again anytime soon cuz Raburn is barely over the Mendoza line right now. I don't understand why Leyland insists on playing him, Raburn must have pictures or something.
I was so furious when this happened.
When Raburn is on third, where should his eyes be? The pitcher? The catcher? My reason for asking is the catcher made a pretty obvious signal to the third baseman the pickoff was coming. Should Raburn have picked this up?
but I noticed the obvious signal from the catcher as well. Silly Raburn!
You hate Raburn so much Justin. I love it. You tweet about it every time he's at the plate.
It's like how I felt about Julio Lugo.
frustrating player on the Tigers. He is an absolute butcher in the field and couldn't hit a beach ball coming at him at 50 MPH.
In fact, I couldn't agree more. I'm so over Raburn.
It pains me to say this, but I'm also over Maggs and Inge.
I still have some faith in Maggs, but I am definitely over Inge. His DL stint has been more of a blessing than anything.
I just feel like Dirks has more to offer than Maggs.
I'm nervous about Inge's return. I just don't think he should be starting at 3rd everyday and I worry about what his response to that will be.
Also over both of those guys, and have been for awhile. Cannot compete for a division with a 3B and RF that hit around .200. And while we're at it...some comsistency at 2B would be nice. Run Santiago out there every day for a month and see what happens...
Avila and Damon should have been everyday players last year IMO.
Yeah, I feel the same way about Adrian Gonzalez. Mother fucker can't hit a homer when we need it. Hahaha.
Max has struggled a bit as of late. Hopefully he turns it around tonight.
He's had his moments of brilliance, but for whatever reason when i see 9 wins next to his names I have to remind myself that we haven't even hit the all-star break yet
Good game at Fenway, some back and forth action. Sox tie it in the bottom of the 6th, but Padres take the lead again in the 7th...
Is Kyle Kalis pitching? Oh wait.
Scherzer has absolutely owned Matt Kemp. Kemp is a beast, but is 0-13 against Max. GO TIGERS ... GO BLUE!!!
Ouch.
Let's see if we can go a game without giving an opposing pitcher a hit. Kershaw had 2 RBIs last night...
In the last 4 games against NL teams (3 @ Colorado, 1 @ LAD), opposing pitchers have the following line:
3/10, 5 rbi, 1 r, 3 BB
Pretty bad.
Edit: They just displayed this line, mine was off a bit.
get out of a bases loaded, one out situation without any major damage so that's a plus. He even got Billingsley to ground out!
Is it just me, or does every signle one of the umps' "strike" signals look like he's signalling a called third strike?
V-Mart has probably been the first half MVP. Comes through with another RBI to tie the game 1-1
I love that this turned into an anti-Raburn anti-Inge thread.
I would really like to see Leyland get fired up enough to get tossed in one of these games. I realize the Tigers been on the good end of some botched calls, but in the last 5-6 games they've been on the wrong end of about 1 per game. Not that they've cost them the game or anything, but when the team is a little down it could light a fire.
You'd think with not being to smoke during games his nerves would be on edge but he's managed it quite well.
is the announcer pissing anyone else off calling scherzer "shirtser" and avila "ah-vee-lah"?
im tempted to drive the 3 hours to LA and punch the guy in the head.
Vin Scully is dreadful to listen to. As much as I dislike Rod Allen and Mario on FSD this guy is making this about as enthusiastic as watching paint dry.
Mario and Rod are simply a joy to listen to. The Tigers and Wings have the best play by play guys to listen to.
the a-vee-la thing bugs me too. i heard the tigers TV announcer doing that when i was back home a few weeks ago and i said out loud 'that's not how you pronounce that name.' then last night i was listening to the LA radio announcer and he announced it that way, and then corrected himself, sort of. but i wondered through it all if the family took to pronouncing it that way because it had become anglicized. happens sometimes. but if it's not the case, it's weird because he has family members with the dodgers and you would think that folks around there would get the name right.
Gotta score some runs...
Bases loaded, 1 out, and you get 0 runs? It's awfully hard to win games like that.
not that it matters at this point, but is anyone listening online? i am looking for a place that's carrying the game
at the Game and its good being drunk
I'm at the game. The tigers, from the get-go, seemed absolutely limp. Just no oomph at all. Really depressing.
Jim Leyland for president .... Couldnt be worse than the one we have now......... O wait.....
So can someone remind me the most imp-ortant rule on mgoblog is?(Other than never talk about mgopoints of course)
I'm just hoping that our crappy play lately is due to the fact that we haven't had a day off in almost 3 weeks. We've made the Rockies and the Dodgers look good in the past week. It's embarassing, really. Hopefully we'll be well represented at the All Star Game, though!
