New NCAA Investigation in Florida

Submitted by Dreisbach1817 on

Apparently, the NCAA is going to South Florida (the area, not college) to investigate recruiting practices.  According to the short article, the programs in question are Ohio State, LSU, Auburn and Tennessee.

Might lead to more trouble for OSU, and our good friends in the SEC.  The fact that certain schools are mentioned might suggest that this targeted investigation has some teeth.

"High schools officials, street agents, seven-on-seven tournaments - they're all going to be asked questions by the NCAA."

I just bought a new car the other day and it came with XM radio. I was listening to a college sports talk radio station earlier today and they were talking about this. They specifically mentioned LSU, Tennesse, and OSU as the teams that were being investigated. Take it fwiw, but they also felt that this was a big deal and some big news will be coming out soon. I think  the host was Jack Arute, but I could be wrong. Anyways, this might be something to keep an eye on. I cant get enough of bad news for tsio.

I couldnt tell who the other guy was. Now that you mention it, the voice did sound familiar. I wondered what Mike Leach was up to these days. I only listened to it for about 10-15 minutes, it was very entertaining. Cant wait for my next long drive I  have to make. lol

When I read the title, I was sorta hoping for a UF investigation that would make hiring Urban Meyer too risky for THE Ohio State University within the time frame of their investigation and the sanctions that will surely follow.  They don't even have to find anything; just tying Meyer's hands until after TOSU finds another coach would be enough for me.

I just didn't think it deserves its own thread but since we're talking about ohio... they made the mavs honorary ohioans (if such thing exists)

Wonder what happened that caused such an investigation. Can't wait to hear more details on this one. I always wondered how all of the sudden OSU was getting kids out of Florida about the time RR came around.

Can you imagine if Berry were to end up being suspended as well? The Buckeyes would be thin all over the place. The next 6 months are going to be like Christmas everyday leading up to the actual day. This comes just as I thought the dust was starting to settle. Also read the OSU board is going to say something next week, wonder if Gee or Smith will be given their walking papers at that time?

popcorn anyone?

I wish there was more reason to belive this. I feel like it would be making a bigger splash if there was some substance to it.  The only thing I found on the web simply cite the Hyde story.
