New NCAA Investigation in Florida
Apparently, the NCAA is going to South Florida (the area, not college) to investigate recruiting practices. According to the short article, the programs in question are Ohio State, LSU, Auburn and Tennessee.
Might lead to more trouble for OSU, and our good friends in the SEC. The fact that certain schools are mentioned might suggest that this targeted investigation has some teeth.
"High schools officials, street agents, seven-on-seven tournaments - they're all going to be asked questions by the NCAA."

I want a slightly more believable source than a few sentences in a single bullet
I barely made it to the toilet to vomit. Damn you. Give some warning next time.
Why u post 'orrible stayte travil slogan o' Oiho!?
C'mon guys. That was pretty funny.
I just bought a new car the other day and it came with XM radio. I was listening to a college sports talk radio station earlier today and they were talking about this. They specifically mentioned LSU, Tennesse, and OSU as the teams that were being investigated. Take it fwiw, but they also felt that this was a big deal and some big news will be coming out soon. I think the host was Jack Arute, but I could be wrong. Anyways, this might be something to keep an eye on. I cant get enough of bad news for tsio.
i work for XM and there is a show college football playbook hosted by jack arute and mike leach. very entertaining, i was listening a few weeks ago when they interviewed RR about recruiting and specifically asked about pryor. interesting stuff
I couldnt tell who the other guy was. Now that you mention it, the voice did sound familiar. I wondered what Mike Leach was up to these days. I only listened to it for about 10-15 minutes, it was very entertaining. Cant wait for my next long drive I have to make. lol
Yet another reason to be pleased that we dodged the bullet named Les Miles.
Do you really think Les Miles would have tried anything shady here? Michigan sells itself. The SEC is a different beast entirely. Everybody kills and everybody cheats.
When I read the title, I was sorta hoping for a UF investigation that would make hiring Urban Meyer too risky for THE Ohio State University within the time frame of their investigation and the sanctions that will surely follow. They don't even have to find anything; just tying Meyer's hands until after TOSU finds another coach would be enough for me.
Shady things happening in Florida--who would believe it?
I just didn't think it deserves its own thread but since we're talking about ohio... they made the mavs honorary ohioans (if such thing exists)
I wonder if Kasich cleared this with the Mavs first. This is not exactly an honor too many people would wish to have bestowed upon them.
I would rather have my own penis fed to me, than to be plagued with this honor.
I think I'd rather be "honored" as Grand Marshal of a Glory Hole convention.
...I would politely decline.
did they also officially disown Lebron? If not, they should get on that right away! Much more important than fixing the budget deficit!
that's just fucking sad. I can't believe the state government is getting caught up in the Lebron hate-fest. Never mind that he's the best athlete to play for Cleveland since Jim Brown.
How much does Ohio State recruit in Florida? My sense is that it's not much.
They recruit the top guys from Florida. So you're right, quantity wise they don't do what RR did down there. But given that they are in it only for the top Florida guys, it's more likely that money would be exchanging hands in those cases.
Jaamal Berry immediately comes to mind, who was also in the SI story.
Wonder what happened that caused such an investigation. Can't wait to hear more details on this one. I always wondered how all of the sudden OSU was getting kids out of Florida about the time RR came around.
Can you imagine if Berry were to end up being suspended as well? The Buckeyes would be thin all over the place. The next 6 months are going to be like Christmas everyday leading up to the actual day. This comes just as I thought the dust was starting to settle. Also read the OSU board is going to say something next week, wonder if Gee or Smith will be given their walking papers at that time?
popcorn anyone?
I'll pass on the popcorn, I'm stuffed already. Fickell's task of rebuilding osu on offense and defense gets tougher with each passing day.
I did a post on the possible suspension to the players mentioned in the SI piece but it was deleted. But rest assured they will lose 3 more D starters if SI is right.
I wish there was more reason to belive this. I feel like it would be making a bigger splash if there was some substance to it. The only thing I found on the web simply cite the Hyde story.
