Recruiting Targets Off the Board

Submitted by UM_lawful on

The past week has seen several of our recruiting targets go off the board to other teams, some have already been documented (i.e. Dodson), while others have not. A brief recap:

MD DE Michael Moore commits to UVA.

CA WR Malik Gilmore commits to Oregon State, speculation that he still may take visits.

GA DT Jonathan Taylor commits to UGA.

GA DE James Deloach commits to UGA.

FL CB Brian Poole commits to Florida.

OH OL Kyle Dodson commits to Wisconsin.

MO OL Evan Boehm commits to Missouri.

Nothing too ground-breaking, but just a few more options no longer available that have been asked about to varying degrees. Boehm and Dodson seemed to be of the most interest and most frequently asked about. The others seemed more like longshots.

frankly i don't think that any of these guys ever strongly considered michigan.  i assume the staff knew that and didn't invest heavily in their recruitment, with the possible exception of dodson.

If he committed to Oregon State, chances are it was us who wasn't interested, not him.  I'm not saying it's impossible, but Michigan doesn't get legitimately spurned by Oregon State unless there are some extenuating circumstances.

I would compare him to Thomas Rawls last year. We liked him, and he liked us. He had some things to sort out, but once he did, we were able to all get on the same page. Maybe it is just wishful thinking on my part, but I like to think that if he can get his stuff together, we'll make a serious go at him, and he might be receptive to the idea of rejoining his buddies.

If that's the case, and 's very possible that it is, I'm sure the coaches are staying in close contact with him and he knows very well where he stands with us.  He has two teammates headed to Ann Arbor and a top QB coming in the year after him.  I think Burbridge knows that UM will get a top WR one way or another this year, and if he wants it to be him, he'll get his shit together as fast as he can.
