No matter what OSU does they would never get the death penalty, they even say in pony excess that SMU recieved it to set a example, Its obvious that they didnt scare any of the major programs.

SMU blatantly had no regard for the rules they knew they were breaking,  they were winning and winning big.  Though tOSU wasn't as bad as SMU in breaking the rules it still has that mantra "Win at all costs".

While James' (and May's) anti-Big 10 habits typically make me hit mute and go for a beer, during the coaching change drama, he was the only guy I heard actually say that Hoke should be the number one choice ("He's a button-down guy, runs an impressive SD State program, and would crawl to Michigan" is what I think he said).  It struck me as just kind of odd then, but with the way things have been going, James just might have a little savant in him.

that sleazy guys pass money around to football players, it pisses me off that teams cheat to get better and ESPN makes that seem OK. With SMU the special admits the superclass was built with players who never should have been there to begin with but revels in the on-the-field success calling it "the pony express" "look at how wonderful that team was" and then saying later "then, a shady guy came around named sherwood blount" and things went bad. Things were bad when Craig James and Eric Dickerson signed LOIs. The courting of Marcus Dupree is greasy too. They glorify what happened at Oklahoma but they don't really frown on the fact that he should've stayed at home and had a successful career starting in Mississippi.  They highlight his illegal recruitment as something to admire, or "something cool that could happen to you too, young recruit!" The Miami 30 for 30 special is by far worse than the others. Their superteams were blatantly bought and paid for but all the special does is justify buying a superteam. It doesn't just gloss over wrongdoing, it ends with a glitterring, triumphant music montage of all the glory years revelling in their cheating. It pisses me off that ESPN makes everything seem fine until people start getting caught, and THEN things are bad. It may be a small thing but the principal behind it is everything.

is that at they end, they show the Rich Rod practice thing, and Lloyd and the team singing The Victors. First of all, Rich Rod's thing was nowhere NEAR as bad as anything thats gone on the past 5 years, especially not SMU, and Carr did not have any scandals

It is JV only in scale.  What OSU was doing is pretty much the same thing, just for somewhat less money and marginally less obvious.

JV?  Joint venture?  I knew there was a connection between tOSU's cheating and SMU's cheating.  Thanks for the info...
