it's what the cool kids are doing.

you know, honey nut cheerios is pretty great. but having it day in and day out can become a bit mundane (say, like the current audi's). and sometimes, you need a bit of apple cinnamon to shake things up (aka the quattro concept).

though not terrible.. at the very least, it helps you appreciate what you have that much more.

/and for the record, as much as i enjoy reading Brian's thoughts on his blog.. it ain't like mgoblog is the most beautiful thing in the world. so it's a bit ironic to be bitching about design.. on something that isn't the best example of it.

True, and it MIGHT look ok, but my biggest problem with it is that it's not authentic.  From what I've seen this isn't a copy of an exact jersey, but rather a hodge-podge of different features.  I realize times have changed and they're not going to to play in a turtle-neck sweater, but for me this entirely about marketing and not about history at all.

I really wouldn't care what the uniform looks like as long as it was an actual throwback, and not some POS that is supposed to look old. Has this design ever actually been used in our history before?

Michigan's first even night game throwback uniforms.....

Brought to you by the same savy marketing folks who voted yes to "Legends and Leaders" as names for the new conference alignments.

I'm not sure they're so bad.  To be honest, I'm against throwbacks because I think UM's current uni is perfection.  But with that, I don't have a major prob with these unis.

too bad i'm so late to the party.  you guy's are so f'ing emo about this whole thing.  you're acting like it's unraveling the fabric of michigan football as we know it.  give it a damn chance. they're trying something different- if it works, great- if not, it'll be soon forgotten and nobody will remember it 10 years from now.  big deal.

I think it would be a little less fugly if they had only 2-3 stripes on the sleeve instead of the candy-cane rugby look.   Thank god this is only for one game and then these jerseys can go die somewhere.

Oh well.

Not gonna lose any sleep over it.  Just win football games.  I don't care if they have to wear green and white with "Jealous Bitch" scripted across the front.  Just Win.

Irrespective of the look of the uniforms, this certainly suggests that Dave Brandon just flat out lied when he said the earlier leaked unis were not accurate representations.

The uniforms leaked earlier were slightly different.  They did not have the small numbers on the front of the jersey, which was probably done to comply with NCAA regulations.  At the time the first uniforms leaked Dave Brandon probably didn't know yet whether the NCAA would allow them to do the block 'M' on the front at all.  Not to mention he obviously wasn't going to screw up the planned unveiling by saying "oh yeah, that's them" like a certain coach we know.

So let's just dial back the "flat out lied" stuff a little bit eh?  At least in regards to our Athletic Director...

Brandon did say that those weren't accurate though. It's kind of like asking Hoke if Denard is a 93 runner and an 86 passer and having him point at me and say "no way" only to find out that Denard is a 94 runner and an 85 passer...these are awfully similar.

Brandon should have said something other than an unequivocal no.
