Love this game, but the BTN seems to play this at least once a week. You'd think since we're the winningest program in NCAA history, they'd be able to replay some other games.
Most of the Big Ten's Greatest Games have us as the losers when we're present; everybody's biggest upset wins came against OSU or us.
I know we are on the losing end of a lot of games on BTN because we're usually a good team and when we lose, it's significant. But there are some great games that they rarely, if at all show: Virginia 1995, Iowa 1997, Penn State 1999, Illinois 2000, Iowa 2001, Wisconsin 2001, Washington 2002, Penn State, 2002, Minnesota 2003, Michigan State 2003, Ohio State 2003, Michigan State 2005, Iowa, 2005, Minnesota 2004, Michigan State 2004, Penn State 2005, Illinois 2007. These are just a few I'd love to see. I know they can't cater to my every whim, and I never get tired of seeing Michigan win the 2000 Orange Bowl, but I'd love to see some other victories as well.
Great game. I watched it with a few hundred of my closest friends (and about 6 of my actual closest friends) at Joe's on Weed in Chicago. This was the Michigan bar back then.
Second best game I have seen live.
I was at this game in Miami and Braylon fest, I can't decide which is tops for best live game I've seen.

Reminds me of the Wisco game in 2008 (one of the very few bright spots). Bunch of students and friends were leaving at halftime. Bet one of my friends, girl, dinner and happy ending, a joke, that we would be coming back. I never let her hear the end of it for the next three years.
Cleared out with around 8 minutes left and the score 10-27. I always wondered what they thought when they saw sports center later that night and wondered how on earth it ended up 45-37. Well worth missing the Halloween party that year.

I think I would agree. We were in the front row, corner of the endzone where all the TDs happened. Such an awesome atmosphere before and after the game. We had a pretty vulgar sign that we managed to get up on the jumbotron.

I love how on this season's highlight video, David Terrell breathlessly exclaims that Tom Brady "Has the heart of a lion!"
I've had about a dozen arguments with Bama fans on my channel over this game. They're always respectful of our history, our program, etc., but every single one of them always pulls out the, "We should have kicked Michigan's ass," statement in regards to this game. Or they, say, "If not for the extra point, we would have won." And my personal favorite, "Bama deserved to win this game."
So naturally I respond with, "You deserved to win yet we outgained you in total yards," or "Brady threw for nearly 400 yards on your secondary and you couldn't stop him all night, yet YOU deserved to win." Nevermind the fact that Anthony Thomas fumbled the ball away at the 1 yard line in the 4th quarter that would have put us up 35-28 or the fact that Hayden Epstein had a chip shot field goal blocked in the final seconds that would have won it for us in regulation. I'd say Bama was extremely fortunate the game went into overtime at all.
I'm not saying a missed PAT is how classic games should end. I did feel bad for the kicker (after I stopped screaming in delight) but let's not cheapen our win. It's not like this was a major upset. The tide were just a few places ahead of us in the polls.
Oh well. Despite the fact we didn't "deserve" to win, we still beat the SEC champs, so they can suck on it.

It's always something with them. Remember the recent Penn State vs. LSU game? The Tiger fans acted like the Penn State players got to run on a separate dry field.

To the point of utter absurdity with "deserved to win". But "Should have kicked Michigan's ass"....maybe. That Bama team was stacked. They easily should have been playing for the title (and could have beat the teams that were) if they had been in as soft a conference, and not the SEC. But then, we never should have blown that game against Illinois (DAMN YOU BAD SNAP!), and probably should have been up there ourselves.
Alabama lost to Louisiana Tech that year.
I'm not sure if 'Bama should have kicked UM's ass is even a maybe. That UM team was damn good - Brady, Terrell, Atrain, the oline (most of which would return in 2000 and be an absolute machine), On defense you had Ian Gold, Dhani Jones, Rob Renes, Victor Hobson, Larry Foote.
Does anyone know what happened to Freddie Milons? I seem to remember that they kept talking about him like he could be (would be) a Heisman candidate the following season but obviously it didn't materialize. He was drafted in the 5th rd of the NFL draft and that was it. Did he get injured or am I Roger Clemens and misremembering the hype about him?
I'm not sure. But any Heisman hype he might have got the following year had to have been lost with Alabama's epic fail of a season. They were ranked #3 in the preseason and ended the year with a 3-8 record.
99 was somewhat of a fluke year for Bama when we played them. With the exception of one season, they were sucking up college football (along with USC, LSU and Miami) for several years. Then they ended up winning the SEC in 99 and Sean Alexander was preaching, "Bama is back!" before they played us in the Orange Bowl.
What followed was several years more years of crap football in Tuscaloosa where their shining moment was playing in the Independence Bowl. Then Bama spent everything they had to get Nick Saban and the rest is oversigning history.

Played in the SEC title game 5 times out of 8 opportunities - SEC didn't go to divisions until the 1992 season.
They had Gene Stallings for the majority of that time. He retired after the '96 season (his last game actually was against us) and then Alabama fell apart and went through a decade-long coaching carousel.
I thought he injured his leg, but could be wrong.

The 1999 defense actually wasn't all that great. Well, the front seven was good, but the secondary was bad - not much better than what we've had recently. That was the year we were abused by Plaxico Burress and then promptly lost at home to Illinois.
IIRC, we even put in David Terrell to try and slow down Plax. Didn't work either
There was an awesome Brady Hoke sideline moment that aired during this game. One of our defenders, I can't recall, gave up contain on an outside run near the M sideline and Hoke came running into the top of the shot with the microphones picking him up screaming and pointing at the guy.

Ya, the Hoke parts were the best. Love the end with him jumping with joy.

I was at that game. It was a good 24 hours being on South Beach for New Years bringing in the millenium and then watching the awesome game. What fun!
That was one of my favorite road trips - being on Miami beach for Y2K and then going to that game was a highlight...good times.
